The Petrol Variant:
The Verna is a replacement for the Accent in most countries across the globe. The petrol Verna is powered by a 1599cc four-cylinder all-aluminium engine that develops 102 bhp at 5500 rpm and 14.9 kgm at 3000 revs.
It's quite a sophisticated vehicle, featuring double overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder and Continuous Variable Valve Timing. The engine is free revving, which is good, because to extract power, you have to keep it on the boil. It arrives at 180 kph quite quickly and stays there without any effort.
The overall design, even with the current dual-tone theme, is very conservative, but no one can find fault with the way the switches, knobs, stalks and buttons are placed -- yes, it is extremely ergonomic -- while the quality of the plastics that's gone into the Verna is brilliant. It is clear that Hyundai has taken pains to take the game up to Japanese standards.
The Diesel Variant:
The Verna diesel is powered by a 1493cc engine, with four cylinders -- unlike the Accent CRDi! This common-rail direct injection motor features a variable geometry turbocharger and develops 109 horses at 4,000 rpm and 24 kgm of torque between 1900 and 2750 rpm.
Yes, it's more powerful than the petrol version and even the Skoda Octavia. Not just that. The variable geometry turbine that it features means that this power is delivered much more smoothly and it is virtually lag-free. With the amazing torque on tap, the Verna CRDi is a treat to drive. On the highways, it cruises at 120 kph with the needle relaxed at less than 2500 revs.
The easy availability of torque means that it was powering its way through corners effortlessly.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Gear shifting isnt smooth and making noise. At the time of first service, authorised dealer saying gear box is faulty and it has to be dismantled for checking up before anything can be done further!!! felt cheated........ M driving cars since 15 years and never a gear box is opened..... Even if they open it, do they have experinece to handle it?? cos a gear box is not something one repairs very often@@@@
They are not ready to commit a replacement though they accept a mfg defect in product..... my worst experience.....
Ride Quality & Handling
Even rear suspension is making noise which they admit but say its normal, itna to rahega... pathetic .....
Final Words
Is this the quality hyundai motors offerring to sedan customers in India??? I feel VW vento or Nissan Sunny is much much better. even Skoda Rapid is also good....

Exterior The New Verna Fluidic is definitely an eye catcher! The day it was displayed in the showroom I had an opportunity to see it, as showroom happens to be very close to my home. I was impressed by it looks , The 16 inch Radials , Headlamps and the sleek design across the body on the sides are really very cool and clubbed with two exhaust's which gives a very sporty look . The looks will tempt you to get inside the car. I rate it 5 with out any doubt in my mind.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) I found the interiors to be well designed and more contemporary, fluidic has got good quality plastic all over and you can see that with the perfect finish across the interiors. the car which I am using right now ( Manza Elan ) has got all the latest gizmos like blue and me , Steering mounted audio etc however I see that in fluidic it shows what is quality all about. The front seating is comfortable however one needs to lean a bit more to get inside the car (Ingress n Regress). I felt comfortable sitting in the drivers seat; while i took the test drive , however felt that seat could have been a bit higher , then the sales guy explained me that one can raise the height of the driver seat , which I did but not much improvement but better than before ( I am 5.9 ) , May be because I got used to Manza seating comfort :). Space is adequate for 5 people however rear seats encourage only two people to sit. Rear seat is a way too low however its comfy and one can lean back to a comfortable position, My guess.. It may trouble you in long drives!. I rate it 3 because of poor rear seats and Driver seat height adjustments which are very crucial in any car. (When expectations increases by its exterior looks one needs to match accordingly with interiors too).
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I drove a 1.6 L Diesel Engine for Test drive. As soon as I held the steering wheel I said to myself wow , its very sensitive and should be great to drive in the city , Its really matched and exceeded my expectations. It took apx 10secs for me to get adjusted to the steering as it was very light and responsive. The pickup is good and does not give you any jerk when you accelerate further . It was smooth sailing , however when i touched 120+ I was not confident enough to accelerate further because i felt i may lose control on the vehicle as the steering was too sensitive but the car had the power and willingness to go further. Very less turbo lag, i would say negligible when I compared my existing car. I bet you guys city driving would be a pleasure and one can manure the car at their will and wish, you will not be tired at all and on the other hand it will be a pleasure driving in the city. Fuel economy i cannot comment because i haven’t checked it , but company claims apx 22kmpl for 1.6 L Engine and one can use the sixth gear for maximum fuel efficiency. Gear box is very smooth and you will like it. I rated it 4 because for its one of the best and powerful engines 1.6 L , minimal turbo lag and for the BHP apx 125.
Ride Quality & Handling I would say ride quality in the city will be excellent and it is and handling too on par . The questions arises only when you want to get on to the National Highway and want to cruze. The car has the power and the zeal to take you to the your desired destination with panache however I doubt if the person behind the wheels will have it or not because of its sensitive steering and bouncy rear ( As suspension is very soft ) while driving on high speed. I personally feel, once we get used it it everything will fall in place. Its only a matter of time. I rated 3 because of the less confidence it gives me on high speeds. Linea has much much better road grip and ride quality and handling. The question is how often do i go on long drives at above 120+???
Final Words A car which will not meet your expectations but will exceed your expectations with sheer looks, practicality, driving comfort ( city ) and features it comes along with the car . As my caption says its Owners pride n Neighbours envy stands true for this car.
Areas of improvement
1. Very sensitive Steering.
2. Rear Seats too low and not so comfy for long drives and expects only two people to sit at the rear as it has a hump in the middle.
3. Rear Veiw will be blocked if you have three occupants in the rear seat.
4. I booked this car :) :) :) , One thing reminds me is that nothing is perfect in this world.
5. I am open for comments for my review , either good or bad do post it with out any Dabaang :).

Just driving this car for past 20 Days.. The Build quality as it looks on a test drive is very good but after 600 Kms driving in a City like Coimbatore itself is Giving Lot of Rattling sound inside the car. It sounds like i have got a 5 Year old rough used car.
Fascinated by the Gizmos on seeing on the ADs in Internet Booked the car to get it first, But all in Vain, The car is Photogenic But without the Real Stuff of a car. I was using Hyundai Accent CRDI Before and that car was Great. Still having it after 1,60,000 Kms, Accent Feels and Handles the road in a nice manner but this New Verna feels as if we are in an Auto Rickshaw.
Beware of Advertised Reviews Done by Media Partners of Hyundai. Also A good example will be the release of Detailed Specs. Why is Hyundai New Verna's GROUND CLEARANCE not been stated in any web site / Auto Magazines. Just because the Ground Clearance is Very Low May be 155 mm and Hits Most of the Speed Breakers in Coimbatore. LOW Ground Clearance is Clear when you Drive in NH 209. Cannot Get the car on sides as it Hits the ground at almost all places. ALL MEDIA REVIEW has concealed the Ground Clearance Thing.. Good Job Hyundai.
And then Six Speed Gear Box. It just wants us to Move the Gears Keeping the Left hand Busy Thats all Abt it. Just a piece of Junk. At about 500 Kms driving itself, Car sounds the Grear Slip Sound Frequently and Missing a Gear is very common, You will feel as if you have Put the Gear in Proper position and then when you give acc it will Give the "KRRRRRRRRRRRRR" Sound and let us know that the Gear is not properly in place...
Yeah The engine - Turbo Lag is everywhere, Gives out Black Smoke a lot if you Push it hard... I thought this car will replace my Old Hyundai accent CRDI, But this one, "AS I HAVE GOT IT", may replace my Dad's Old Maruthi Alto.
The Mileage for Diesel is good at 18 to 19 Kmpl in Mixed Driving. Better than Hyndai accent CRDI. When Verna reaches speeds of above 80 Kmph on Highways like NH 209, The car dances on road like a Drunk man, It Wobbles, Shakes, and Drives as if i am driving a Jet Ski / Small Boat on water. Even though there is enough Grip it feels as if you are floating. This makes us to reduce the speed to 70. The same thing happens in 4 Tracks(Modern NHS) where the speed above 100 Proves to be Very difficult as the Floating Effect spoils the confidence to go speeds.
yeah and i forgot, I have complained this to hyundai, They Simply told, We are producing Lot of cars and see sir we have lot of bookings and so there can be ""some faults in some cars"" which cannot be 100% perfect "" they also added " YOU ARE NOT OWNING A BENZ this is Hyundai" I am not looking for a BENZ quality but at least Some thing worth for the 12,00,000 Hard Earned Rupees. Let me Say this Clearly " The Car Does not Worth the Price, It just has bells and Whistles, Dont get Taken away by them".

Exterior NA
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Seating is also not comfortable neither front seats are comfortable nor back seats are comfortable for long drive. Centre of Back seats is creating a problem as it up from sides.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox NA
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is very bad. Whenever there is a hump on road there is a danger that it will hit it from front side and also from lower side. moreover on path holes sound thak is coming from car when car crosses any path hole on the speed of 50-60 km.
Final Words NA
Areas of improvement this is the area of improvment where hyundai have to work hard. i still love this car. i purchased automatic verna in 2010 and then changed it with fludic in july 2011. hyundai cars are good value for money cars and moreover they are doing changes time to time when they have complaints regarding their vehicles.

Exterior Perhaps the most good looking car in this segment. Very sporty and eye catching looks.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Well placed and equipped instrumentation panel, very useful and intuitive user controls on the panel and the steering. Minimal cabin noise even at high speeds of 140+KMPH.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Impressive Pick up and engine responsiveness. A treat to drive on Highways. City driving is giving me around 14.5 kmpl and around 18.5 to 21 KMPL on highways.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is very good. Very easy to maneuver it in tight traffic conditions.
Final Words Its Just a brilliant pacakge.
I took the delivery of my Verna 1.6 CRDi Sx in May 2011. After researching and evaluating all the available options in this segment Vento, City, SX4, Linea, Fiesta etc etc....i decided and zeroed on the fluidic verna even before it was lanched and booked myself one on the launch date. I got the delivery within 10 days of my booking. The driving experience has been awesome till so far.....i had been itching to take it on the highways ever since i bought it. Recently completed a to and from trip from Hyderabad to B'lore.
The car is just too good on the highways, excellent pick up and stability. I was consistently driving between 120-140 and at stretches allowed it to extend to 160-170. While this did have an impact on the mileage, but the thrill of speed was good enough reason to compromise on the mileage. I got around 18.5 kmpl at these speeds. Covering 550+ KMS in 6 hrs with 2 breaks of 20 mins each is very good i would say. The highway had a decent role to play...hats off to NHAI for doing a fantastic job at this one. With speeds ranging between 100-120, it surely will notch up on the mileage. It was great to whiz past every vehicle that i came across on the trip but for an exception of an AUDI A4.
It was very comfortable, as i hardly felt any fatigue driving all the 550+ kms. The AC is very effective. though the temperatures were not too high, but it surely kept my beer cans in the glove box chilled all the way through :-)
By far the best car in this segment and complete value for money considering the offerings.

Dear Car lovers,
I am Hariharan from Chennai, in the past i had owned Hyundai Santro for 6 years and self driven it for 140000Km still it is doing good and it is being used by my brother..!!
When I felt like to upgrade my car I had thought of doing an analysis asusual like all of us :-) I test drew Honda CITY ( just to have a feel but i wanted diesal car) , Old & transformed Verna, All new VENTO which was just launched at that time, Skoda Octavia & Laura , GM chevy cruze.!! very thing had pros and cons but i had finalised VENTO and booked it also. later few months Fluidic was launched and i had been called by the dealer for test drive. It was mind blowing to look at that curves and bends it had eve though the frount was not very app on a over all look it took my heart off. So i had to cancel the VENTO with the silly reason that I can not wait for 6 months :-)
Finaly i got my Fluidic Verna delivered on 1st of May 2011. It has very diff & tuff to explaining to all the curious peoples even while waiting in traffic about the car and features etc etc.!!
Ok Now what I had expected and got from this vehicle.!! I drive my self so all 3000KM done by me only 😲.
Interiors & Exteriors The leather seats very good in Quality and the touch feel is very good. The interior colour gives me an up market car feel, may be I was driving santro 😊 . The woody finish all around with crome gives satisfaction to my mind when ever i look at them. I had put additional vynile flooring to protect carpet and to give good AC feel. it is really helping to cool fast in chennai afternoon temp. Totaly me and my family is happy with the interiors.
regarding Exterior I nothing to say cos every one know by now how sexy is the vehicle. I could feel that when peoples from BMW and Audi LOOK peeping out 😉 . I had just added schuff foldings to the doors. looks good.!!
Vehicle perfomance 😎 I had first felt that the gear ratio was stupid design. cos it is too tall for city driving. but now i used to it and feel comfertable. The head lightes where very very insufficiant for tipical indian high ways with out street lights. So i had to upgrade to Philips Xenon and now its excellent. problem solved for my high way cruze.
Engine & power train is excellent and the tubo charger kickes in at 1500RPM . The over taking is an cake walk with Fluidic verna. the engine is more linear and delivers power linearly so no rush in of power like old verna. this gives u more confidence to drive.
The steering lacks control at high speeds above 170km/h gives nervesness to the driver. but when i have done my first long distance of 400Km long drive i had this problem only till 200km distance. then i started enjoying my drive even after i touched 180km..!! this is too much for a new engine but i wanted it to get well tuned.
Groung clearnce where adequate but still hit few time in some tollgates where they had high speed brakers made for trucks. Breakes where doing excellent job and i felt the ABS too during few incidence on the high way. confident braking at high speeds. Noice and vibrations was very minimal at high speeds 180km/h and low speeds .
Fuel economy was not as per Hyundai promise, I got 12 ~ 13Km/l in pure chennai city traffic driving and 17 ~ 18 Km/l on HIGH way with avarage speed of 80Km/h. All the values are with Air Cond on. But I dont bother on this cos I know hyundai vehicles are not for milage. 😉.
So my dear car lovers for Any specific questions, you can send me an reply, I will answer to my best knowledge.
Thnx
Hariharan.

Exterior Attrractive bold looks and good styling.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very spacious, comfortable seats, high performance ac.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Excellent pick up, Fuel economy moderate, gear change feels a bit hard.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is very comfortable and stable.
Final Words I took delivery of New Verna 1.6 VTVT SX (Silver) on 22 nd May . The over all performance of the car is very good. The car has lots of electronics viz, electric controlled side mirrors, reverse camera and sensors, automatic climate control ac, digital display on dash board with numerous options, USB, air bags, good quality CD/MP3 player.
The ride is smooth and comfortable, performed excellent on ghat roads on my recent trip. The car has an excellent engine and pick up is terrific. Very low on engine noise. Big 16" tyres offer stable handling. Good ground clearance.
Areas of improvement Travelled about 800 km , Fuel economy was moderate may be around 13 - 14 kmpl. Gear shifting could have been smoother. Though head room for tall people (5'10") was adequate, ingress and exgress was not upto mark and feels difficult.
