Bought the Hyundai Santro Xing GLS LPG in December 2008 The only reason to bought this Santro ECO was the LPG kit, by thinking that to reduce my fuel expenses. But the out come result leads me absolute disappointment. It returns between 6 and 8 kms/lt in the city and 10 kms/lt on the highway. These figures are very very far from the given Hyundai Santro Xing GLS LPG prospectus. Before I bought this, I compared with WagonR Duo, by personally and by taking views from users and experts from CARWALE.COM. Even though I bought this because of brand name and faith on service of HUNDAI. But I duped and after I bought this car only I could realised that how much mistake I made. I know HUNDAI is a successful car maker, but not LPG car. Comparatively VAGON R Duo is giving better mileage in the city as well as on the highway!
And the surprising thing is, here in

If you are not hitchy about the comfort of your right ankle while driving this is a great car for you. The accelerator pedal has been positioned way away from the side wall and therefore the right foot remains in a pretty awkward position while driving. Santro users (only long distance users) if you are wondering about the pain in your right ankle or forefoot, well you just read the cause.
Other things about this car are beyond comparisons. I tested wagon-R, Alto before settling for it.I suggest that there is no better car in this price segment than a Santro any variant. I recently bought a SantroXL. Believe me it is just a wonder. The most amazing thing about this car is that its power doesnt die down with AC on. Also the efficiency of the AC is immaculate(guys I have been driving in the scorching heat of Delhi in temperatures 43-45 degrees and it cools so fast). The other thing why i chose santro is that it has a commanding driving position. AS compared to other cars in this segment, it gives you so much confidence in the driving seat that you feel dictating terms on the road. But dont just get carried away. Feel commanding but play safe.
The interiors are very good. Dashboard features are good. The company could have added a dashboard clock and rear parcel tray in the XL version at least. There is so much to boat in XO anyway.
Side rear view mirrors are less user friendly. However day and night feature on the centre rear view mirror is a great comfort at nights.
Its only a month by the way so I cannot comment much on fuel efficiency or service kind issues. But one thing is bothering me a little--- I am getting 10-11 kmpl with AC on( ran 500 kms till date), I wonder whether this will improve with time and services or is going to stay that way. If it stays that way fuel efficiency is going to be a let down for me with this vehicle though I read people are getting great mileages. Here I would like to add that I am no novice. I have more than 150000 kms of driving experience so its not my way of driving that is giving me a bad mileage. Hope things improve with running in.
But few negative ifs-buts will not detract me from saying that it is worth buying a car. You will never repent your decision even if you have driven 500 kms.
Will keep posting more as I go through using it more.

Bought the Santro ECO a month back after selling my Opel Corsa (a decision I now regret) since I didn’t not want to shell out all that money for petrol in this time of recession. The only reason I bought the Santro ECO, even though the model looks outdated was coz of the LPG kit, which turns out to be an absolute disappointment in the end. It returns 8kms/lts in the city and 10 on the highway, pathetic compared to my friend’s WagonR Duo which gives him 14km/ltr on the highway!! This car, then, is only to prove that Hyudai can make a LPG car, and not a good one at that! The customer care cell is not bothered about the many mails that I’ve sent them, they apparently think that 8km/ltr is much more than I should get for the Santro ECO!

Plain old bad luck, or that am a complete idiot to belive the sales guys at the Hyundai showroom and expect 12km/ltr!!
Bottomline, get a cheap Inidca V2 diesel or the WagonR Duo which is proven to return better gas mileage if you are strapped for cash and still need to drive a lot everyday.
Still waiting for the call from Hyundai to set things right. Wonder if I can sue them for breach of trust. Let's see if things turn for the better after the first service. Will keep you posted!
Good looks, proven motor, 36 ltr petrol tank. Decent performance.Extremly poor LPG mileage.. average of 8km/ltr of LPG. Horrible customer complaint cell.Exterior/Styles
