4.0 Exterior | 5.0 Comfort | 3.0 Performance |
3.0 Fuel Economy | 3.0 Value for Money |
Exterior:
The new i20 is even better looking than the previous one. The major difference includes front & rear lamps & the bonnet line. Also the colour options are amazing provided you look beyond the White / Red / Silver. I picked up a Bronze i20 Magna.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort):
Amongst the few reasons I chose i20 over Polo were its Interiors. The interiors are soothing & I bet you wont get over it soon. A small piece of advice, if you can stretch (dont worry, the dealers increase the bargain with this upgrade), go for the Magna (O) which has the Company fitted Music System & Multi Information Display. More than the price, its the look it brings to the Car that matters instead of getting a new one from outside. But this is completely a personal choice. The seat fabric is amazing. Only upgrade if you want leather or want to save the originals from wet people in this rainy season.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox:
The Engine does a fantastic job in the city. The refinement is amazing & comparable to that of a Honda's car. Dont worry about lowering your gears with the A/C ON, you'll be amazed at its capabilities. I haven't been able to verify the Fuel Economy yet cause I've barely done a couple hundred kilometers. The gear shifts are smooth. I believe the more you treat her well, the more your get in return.
Ride Quality & Handling:
The bads come in now. Suspension is set at par with international market. Considering Indian Roads, you'll be a little disappointed with the Suspension. Anything more than a pebble and she'll deny to absorb it. Be gentle there. The steering is extremely light. To an extent where it can take a while to get a hang of it.
Final Words:
Drive, its a great buy for a sober driver. For others, pick a Polo instead. Looks, Polo is a competition. Interiors, Polo isn't a competition. No car is. Not exactly a value for money (get a Honda Brio instead with ABS, EBD etc for 5.25 Lacs) .
Areas of improvement:
Definitely the suspension. I've heard Fuel Economy needs an improvement too. But as I said, I've heard, not experienced. Enthusiasm, is again something I haven't experienced yet. So, no comments. Give me a while to update this post in a month's time.
