Exterior The car has been designed really well with the exterior looks riding on Hyundai's new Fluidic Design concept. The design has been well competitively designed to meet the new generation's expectations of styling. The newly designed headlamps add to the elegance of the car compared to the old model. The head lamps look more aggressive and filled with life than the old model which was introduced in 2009.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Amazing! Thats the right word. The interiors are well designed with dual tone colors. The seats are quite comfortable and the driving column is a feast for the eye. The vertically adjustable seat for the driver is a added boon for the person with height less than 160 cms. The cabin is very spacious and quiet while the car is on move. 3 clinicallt obese people can easil and comfortable sit in the rear seats!
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The new turbo charged engines are really powerful. There is a turbo lag below 1700 rpm but the newly designed engine has reduces the turbo lag to a good extent compared to other cars in the market which have the lag upto 2000 rpm. THe fuel economy ranges from 13 to 18 km/l and totally depends on how you drive your car. Details are written in my blog. The addition of the 6th gear has added to the ride quality at high speeds and improved the fuel economy.
Ride Quality & Handling The ride quality is solid. The suspension has improved way beyond the one of the previous verstion. Handling is also worth mentioning. Cornering at high speeds at a curve feels very safe with the new steering brakes assisted with rear+front disc brakes coupled with ABS and EBD.
Final Words The best car on the price range. Its worth considering it even when you compare it with other so called sedan cars in the price range of 7-9 Lakhs cos Hyundai i20 has got much better feel, luxury, comfort and optimum space for the said price.
Areas of improvement They can work upon the Turbo Lag. Its not so bad but yea thats the only place where I found space for improvement.

The very 1st thing i20 is a premium B+ segment car, not any hatchback, ya its a bit costly than other hatchs but it actually deserve the price u pay for. Its give u the best luxries and style that u find in only 10L sedans, I did about an years analysis to buy a personal car for me n I always have been choosi. My sis owns swift dezire n cousin owns figo disel. I have been very familier with the two, driven them. and finally I chose i20 sportz CRDi. guys i tell u if money is the only concern u r going with smthin else, i say just save sm for a few more months and go with the best choice.
though my cousin emphasised me fro figo diesel n few others too as figo is cheaper. but here is what I found the differnce btw two.
Figo is just a hatchback, i20 premium B+ segment car though an apple shuldnt b compared with orange but still.
- i20's crdi power 90 ps, 224 Nm vs Figo's 69 ps, 160 Nm
- Better space, Better boot
-no rear power windows in figo even in the top model.
-great looks and style
- Better fit and finish
- Long list of fancy gadgets (that premium sedan feel)
- awesome contol and divebility electronic pow str,( figo got only hydro pow str)
- Better resale value of Hyundai.
i have done abt 3500 kms in 2 mnths and getting milage of 17 kmpl with all time ac on (60% highway 40% city) and 2nd service is still to b done, definitely its gonna improve.
I am a proud owner of i20 CRDi.Trust me you cant go wrong with this car.Especially the top end model comes with all the goodies to satisfy all your needs.I test drove figo tdci when i was in the process of buying the car.Its good but the features cant be compared to i20.i20 oozes a premium feel and the engine in i20 CRDi is a gem! There is no comparison between the ford mill and the hyundai mill.hyundai CRDi is far better.
Look and Style: nothing to say for the i20 looks, the eye catcher,
Comfort: large room, luxuries comfort
Pickup: once turbo opens, its a ROCKET ( just drive it once) and stops like bull.
Mileage: 17 kmpl with all time ac on (60% highway 40% city) and 2nd service is still to b done, definitely its gonna improve.
Best Features: looks, style, comfrt, power, milage.
Needs to improve: not found yet.
Overall Experience:I am a proud owner of i20 CRDi.Trust me you cant go wrong with this car.
I will again uppload my exp with it after the 2nd service of car.

Exterior Exterior is good from all way, eye catching. And this is the only part in which I 20 leads.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Good, Spacious & Best in this class. Featues are also amazing. I have CRDI 1.4 (O).
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Performance now this is the most important part and in this I 20 fails.
In Performance Level - Hyundai needs to improve so much. Its very Bad Pick Up as compare to any car in India (even Maruti Alto 800 is better pick up )
Specially in heavy traffic you have to drive on 1ST Gear as its not getting pick up even in second. I have drive 33000 KMS and already done 4 service from Jodhpur but company is not doing proper servicing and also not make any impovement in pick up and average, it delievers only 13-14 KM. It's lowest average car in this price range ( I spend 7.45 Lakh ), Maruti Swift- 20-22, Nissan Micra-21-22, Honda Amaze 23-24 and this all car are much less in price than I 20. But price is not matter as compare to Looks. In look factor I 20 fails everyone.
Ride Quality & Handling Again, you can't enjoy ride if pickup is so poor. I have I 10 Petrol also in my house and believe me it's far best as compare to I20 even its 3 Lakh cheaper than this one.
Final Words Hyundai I-20- NEVER (Only looks are great).
Areas of improvement Hyundai should consider on Pick Up & Average or company will lose customer.

after test driving it was a dream come true. so many features in a hatch back for the first time in india. suspension was good and the handling was excellent.car was steady even at top speed and the brakes were really effective. most gripping feature was curtain airbags.
glove box cooling was a novel idea and much of the interior space was utilised very well. the large boot space was very surprising in a hatch back.
its a must buy for people who want more than just driving from a car.

Final Words
I have purchased an I 20 crdi (diesel) 2 months ago, and till now ran around 3500 km. Friends it is awesome!!!! what a pick up! in low gears it cruises like a Beast. for city driving. very comfortable, handy . On the Highway, it runs like a monster. overtaking has now become a joke for me. remember 224 NM torque & 90 bhp. No car in this segment delivers this.Very spacious, full of features , fantastic looks. In fact I 20 is a sedan with a small boot, its not a hatch by any means. Swift is also a good car,but i20 is an upper class one. If someone comments negatively on the I20, it must be yhe petrol version. petrol i20 is underpowered, using the 1.2ltr kappa engine of the i10. So if anybody thinks of the i20 diesel, just go for it if your budget permits.

I am having an option of 5 lac price range and i am looking for spacious car and more prefered for sedan. and i had option of Swift desire \ hundai accent\ Logan and Indigo CS. I finally skipped Logan and Indigo CS after people's comment on these cars and left with option of Accent and Swift desire.
My first chioce was swift desire and it was almost finalized but when i looked into the aerodymanics of car i didn't found that much attractive and another problem was with look. It does not look impressive in first instance. Then i decided to see Hundai accent .. great car with good review comment. went to see Hundai accent and it was really good in that price tag. In the same floor there was i-20, i knew it is costly affair so didn't given attaention to i-20. but when i looked into interiors then i became fan to this car.
Looks like hundai has put everything in interiors and priced at that level. Looks heavy car and good boot space with 60:40 seat closing option. looks stylist and up to mark in the look....
now In 5 lac price range I am giving preference to i-20 and my current other consideration are Fiat Paio, Swift VXI .
I have asked for test drive of i-20 in next week. anybody having idea about servicing of hundai and how is there customer care? your input will be helpful for me on zeroing this car. and Pls provide me details of mileage. i am looking for minimum of 12-13km\liter in city.. thanks...

Booked on: 09/08/2010.
Purchase date: 23/09/2010.
Showroom: APCO Hyundai, Calicut, Kerala.
Customer satisfaction: Good
HUNT FOR MY CAR: Started with VW POLO, PUNTO and FIGO in mind. But after a month long of research, i added up i20 in my list. During my TD’s i’d never checked out i20. Basically i was against korean cars. But because of the pressure from the friends, parents and of course the reviews from the carwale and team-bhp, i decided to to TD i20.
I literally fell in love with the car. interiors were top class. i liked the drive too. So finally decided to go for i20 ASTA 1.4 CRDi. Thanks to all contributors for taking the right decision, especially carwale members. REVIEW: I’m very happy to write my initial ownership report of my i20 asta crdi.
Its been one n half month since i brought the vehicle. Odo reading: 2750. I did my first service at 1208kms on 13/10/10 at Advaith hyundai, Bangalore.
WHAT I LIKED: A superbly powerful beast once it crosses the 1800rpm. Mileage: Highway: 21kmpl, City: 16kmpl.
Gear shift indicator. a useful touch.
Gear : short throws.
Comfortable front seats.
Interiors are top class.I love the brown and beige combo.
Steering mounted controls.
Desmodronic key with remote boot open.
Dead pedal.
The clutch and accelerator pedals are quite soft and easy on the foot.
Brakes- good.
Front seats are very comfortable.
Auto closing ORVM’s.
Speakers: better compared to others(Punto, figo).
FATC: Nice touch.
ORVM mounted indicators are top notch.
The huge glove box.
Good ground clearance.
An awesome pick for the city drives
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:Not a fun to drive car., i mean in highways.
Ride quality on poor roads is bad.
Thud- thud sound while going through speed breakers with a moderate speed.
Hizzing sound from the dashboard near to MID during slow speeds.
Driving pleasure: Average.
Light steering.
A pillar blocks the view during tight turns. Its very difficult in ghat section.
Gear: Not butter smooth.
Tyres: Apollo accelere-Not good for a car like i20. Noisy&High body roll.
Glove box cooling: should have been better.
Headlights: Not upto the mark.
Poor horns.
Wiper blades leave wet lines.
A.S.S.-Good. but can improve still.
Non retractable antenna.
Slight Turbo lag.
Placement of Audio controls on steering not optimal.
Seat belt buzzer is irritating.
WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER:
Glove box lamp.
Blue tooth in the HU.
Rheostat control.
Luggage net.
Hook on the co-driver head rest.
Auto-window raiser.
DTE, average fuel consumption feature.
Hope these observations help prospective buyers. Overall I am very very happy with i20 though I know its one of the more expensive options around. But the joy of driving the car especially in highways counters that very nicely.
Superb engine, excellent interiors, fuel economy-avg:18.5kmpl,huge glovebox, comfortable front seatsNot a fun to drive car.,i mean in highways.Driving pleasure: Average. Light steering.

The decision on the i20 was nearly 5 months in the making and nearly 25 test drives of various models like, Polo, Swift, Punto and i20. To be honest i was literally blown away on the test drives of the polo. The gear shift and handling were just extraordinary. However there were visible cons to the polo and as you will read on, there were a Lot of PRO's to finally opt for an i20
Exterior Would term it as the most stylish in its segment. Am sure there will be a lot of Punto owners and fans who will disagree, however for someone who favors the sleek lines and curves over the cuts n boxes, this car is a definite beauty. Although i think they could have done better with the back of the hyundai, I love the way they have given a slight lift in the center of the bonet, giving it the look like it has inputs from a formula 1 car.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) This would definitely be the most feature rich car in its category, with electronic adustable and folding mirros, climate control, steering mounted audio controls, Glove box cooling, even the gear change indicator feature, where the car will indicates which gear to drive in is a very useful feature, i guess it saves me atleast 3 to 4 km per litre of fuel. The seats are ergonomically designed and seems to hold your back firm which is very important in cases of long drives or for people who do a lot of driving. I am 6"ft flat tall and even after sitting comfortably in the front, there is enough space for another 6 footer to sit right behind me. The boot is spacious enough to handle 3 normal sized suitcases side by side flat on their backs. The climate control takes a little time to heat or cool the car. Audio system is terrific with the tweeters really adding punch to an already good sound system. I did happen to park the car next to a D'sire at my cousin's place and the cars looked identical in length from the birds eye view, the i20 looked wider.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I did find the engine slightly under powered (only just) when i needed to really accelerate hard out of red lights, however it sails like a breeze on the expressways and i dont see too many cars zipping past me. Done 1300 kms till now (bought the car on the 26th of Dec 2010) and the baby has been giving me a cool 17 kmpl (which has surprised me to be honest) in delhi traffic, and anyone who has travelled in the NCR would agree that it does have its fair share of bumper to bumper traffic. The gear shift is smooth, however it does tend to be a little edgy while putting it in first (but this is rare).
Ride Quality & Handling It feels really steady even at high speeds like 100 to 120 kmph, however the car does seem to tilt a bit too much for my liking when i take sharp turns at high speeds in corners. I did read a couple of reviews where they said the bottom kept touching speed breakers, however i believe the 15" alloys on the sportz version does tend to sort this issue out.
Final Words Would definitely recommend this car for anyone who is looking at getting features and space at this price. However anyone of the racing types, would be disappointed with the petrol version, however they could check the diesel version out, which could turn out to be heavy on the pocket.
Areas of improvement Maybe a slight increase in torque or maybe coming out with a 1.4 ltr engine at this price would definitely see this care outselling the maruti's of the world.

Exterior Definately one of the most stylish car in its class, maybe only next to the Punto in exterior styling. It has very good build quality and feels solid and safe to drive.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors are very comfortable and welcoming. Quality of plastics is good. There is enough space for 4. The 3rd passenger in the rear can cramp up things a big. The boot is BIG and can easily take care of luggage for 5 people. I drive the base model which takes care of features that are available only in higher end models - e.g all 4 power windows, ipod socket, boot light, inbuilt music system with mp3 and 4 speakers and 2 tweeters. The multi function dislay is right below the windsheild so you dont have to take your eyes off the road. It displays whats playing on your radio/cd, 2 trip meters, date and time and the exterior temperature. Not to forget to mention the clutch pedal rest which can be a boon on long drives and bumper to bumper traffic.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The 1.2 kappa which does the duty in the i10 with a little tweak feels slightly underpowered on the i20. It can easily do with a standard 1.4 or even better a 1.6. Im regular on the Mumbai/Pune expressway where you can feel it drag on the ghats- especially with the a/c on and the car with passengers. Even the swift does a much better job on the ghats. The car is definately underpowered, simpy due to its power to weight ratio.
The greabox is a different class - its sikly smooth - even better than the Corolla. Gear shift is effortless. However, it can sometimes be tricky to put it in reverse, takes a while and practice to put it in reverse.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride is smooth and comfortable. The suspension is satisfactory. However, the low ground clearance can be a nightmare on bad roads - need to drive carefully on slopes and potholes. Dont be surprized if this car scratches the bottom of the road, especially the front.
Final Words Overall a great car to own. Ive not spent anything in the last two years. Service is prompt.
Areas of improvement The BIGGEST area of improvement in the car is definately going to be its air conditioning. the aircon is weak to say the least and takes for ages to cool the car. I drive 7KM to work, and on a hot and sunny day, I m still sweating when I reach work. Invest in good car sun control film, especially on the windshiled. Ive made multiple complaints about this but the company fails to acknowledge that there is an issue with the aircon. Infact, in my first servicing, my AC themostat which costs around 11k was replaced free of cost without any complaining.
I made some research on the internet and a person who claims to have worked with Hyundai mentioned that they did have a new vendor for their a/c and are facing some quality challenges with them. Im not sure if its taken care of now, since my car was from the first lot. Im in Mumbai where the heat is lesser compared to Delhi. Research on the internet if aircon is a big consideration for you. The car was perhaps designed for Europe where summer does not touch 42 degrees.
Few other things to consider to be added in the base version which is available in the higher end - these dont cost much, but will definately add to the appeal:
1) USB port
2) Passenger side vanity mirror
3) All 4 auto roll up windows. Base version only has the driver side auto window.
