Hyundai i20 became my own, first car, purchased in Jan 09. With no experience to driving at all (have been a biker all my life) and having trained on a Swift Dzire to get my license, the first look of this new "i" said it all. Be it interiors, finishing, grip on the road and even so much talked about milage, it does come up to the expectation. Swift was good but this seems to be better (of course with a 50K additional price tag on the premium model), and its worth it.

As a layman, I did see it to be laggard during pick up with AC on; however my friends told me that could be because of the power of the Hyundai AC's itself. I am also evaluating the fuel economy and would publish it later but my feeling right now is that its close to 14Km w/o first servicing done and with 50:50 City:Highway driving. (Data: Driven 360 Km with half tank of fuel/gas left)

Exterior Beautiful and the grille s stunning with stainless steel moc. rear lamps are sexy and looks pretty big as big as entry level sedan.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Extraordinary. steering mounted controls, climate control, EORVM, 2 DIN music player, etc are too good and enjoyable. SPACE is quite large for comfortable seating of 5 people. enough legroom, suspension is alright and this machine is solid. Driver seat adjustment is superb as u get excellet road view.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is so smooth and deadly machine. fantastic pick up and steering is like butter. decent fuel economy as u cant expect better than this for the kind of engine in the city drive. Gear shifting is ok and no hassles. 

Ride Quality & Handling Superb. Handling is much better than my previous car - Alto very smooth ride and pleasure driving this girl!

Final Words Undoubtedly, VFM car and best in class interiors and very spacious and comfortable. Car is like home and hence interiors have to be enjoyable. this makes truly pleasure driving. 

Areas of improvement suspension!

smooth engine, nice interiors, stunning look and style.Engine power, cud hav been 1.3 lit engine for the price tag.

 

Exterior The car looks quite charming from exterior. It fits the small car category the best.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The interiors are the best part of the car. There is enough space and comfort at the rear and front.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The engine seems to be lacking power compared to its peers. The gearbox is smooth and the fuel economy is decent.

 

Ride Quality & Handling The ride quality is smooth and handling is easy,but for the road view from the drivers point of view, which is not good enough. The height of the driver's seat being low creates an issue with near viewing.

 

Final Words The car scores well in terms of looks andd comfort but would need extra power for sure. I would call it complete value for money although its a good buy.

 

Areas of improvement The Power/pick-up on the second gear. The ground clearance of the vehicle and height of the drivers seat.

Exterior A very good shape (I guess because it is designed by person who design cars for BMW), I like the looks of car very much, but it could have been more attractive with double barrel head lamp

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very seat is comfortable except driver seat, it is because of the placement of the paddles. I have drove my car more than 3800 kms since purchase and i have still not found comfortable driving position and one major flaw is that I keep my seat as far away as possible so (but keepig in mind that I am able to press clutch fully) my knee dont touch or break the key. I tried adjusting height of both seat and tilt of stearing, but no luck. And if one try to keep seating position high then left leg keep scratching the panel there.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox There is high amount of turbo lag in the engine.(I have swift also and there is very less turbo lag there). But if you follow the gear selector indicator instruction to change the gear then its very good to drive.

Fuel economy I am getting is not what i was told by salesman. I was told if I follow the instruction of changing gear i will get no less than 18kmpl. but i am getting FE between 13 to 16 kmpls. but in City with some time bumper to bumper traffic and AC 100% on all the time. Gears are just perfect.

 

Ride Quality & Handling Ride is lil bouncy (little) but I love the way car goes around the corners. The suspension is balanced just fine between soft and firm.

 

Final Words I am getting low Fuel efficiency (but i was warned about this earlier buy by friend who have I20 Dsl sport) and I am still not able to find comfy seating position for me, but I still love the car , goes like rocket ( but need to keep it above 1800 RPM). cant wait to go for long trip in it. I love I20. Its the safest hatch available in India Rite now.

 

Areas of improvement I dont want to abuse here but, You Dumb Hyundai People you should give glove box lamp in your car. wiring is there slot is there and the lamp assy it available in HASS as genuine hyundai part but still you are cutting cost on lousy 118 bucks item. its pathetic. Should give Instant FE indicator (which is there on EU models) and bluetooth connectivity.

These are the things about car I have just mentioned the problem areas.

But if I compare cons and pros. The car have faar too many pros than cons. IF you are not concerned about high FE in city and want a safe hatch with loads of features both mentioned and hidden I suggest you go for it. I bought i20 because I believe rather than getting 18kmpl in city, I am happy to get FE of 15 to 16 kmpl if the car is more safe and reliable and good looking.

GO for I20.

 

All round Disk , music system, pollen filter (not mentioned on website),no 5th alloy as spare, seating position of driver seat,, and no Sun roof and 6 air bags in Asta DSL

 

Exterior its simply awsome design, looks different from all other hatchbacks. better design than swift and fabia and other hatchbacks in its segment, I personally suggest you should test drive i20 and you will get in love with this car.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) doesnt looks as you are sitting in a hatchback, it seems like you are driving a luxury sedan.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is very responsive, driven for just 300 kms its giving me 12 kmpl in city, havent gone on highway yet so cant tell mileage, Gear shifting is simply awsome, I earlier had indica vista quadrajet. i20 is far far better than that car. I simply love this car.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is awsome, its instument panel guides you well when to change gears for getting optimum mileage. Dont have to change gears frequently at low RPM also.

Final Words Go for i20 you will simple love this lovely beast.

Areas of improvement Can increase ground clearance.

Exterior Very Good Looks. Neat Design. Biggest car in its segment.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors looks are nice. But I felt like it is easily getting scratches, so the plastic quality could have been better. Seats are nice and comfortable. Adjustable steering is a very good feature found in the car. Sometimes felt like legs are touching the dashboard(it may be due to the reason that I am keeping the seat very near to steering to get good road view).

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is good, but I wish it could have more power. But with this much power it is giving very good mileage on Highways - more than 22. In city the mileage is somewhere between 16-18 I felt. Gears and clutch are little hard, no difficulties faced.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride Quality is Excellent. The travel is like a smooth sailing in the sea. No Tuk-Tuk sounds, no harsh behavior. The handling is smooth and easy.Eventhough it is the biggest car in this segment we feel like driving a small car like Alto.

Final Words Excellent car. Very good mileage on Highways. In city you may need to fill more petrol. Enough power(for calm drivers).

Areas of improvement They can make the interior plastic quality better and seat height can be little higher(as I am a short fellow I felt like) and power can be increased a bit for the satisfaction of sporty drivers. I give 90/100 to i20.

Exterior To good in Exterior look. No other car looks good compare to I20 in its segment. Its really cool.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Lots of Good features available in the vehicle. No need to compramise in space and comfort level. I bought this vehicle only because of the space and comfort it is providing. Its a Big car we are getting in a small. Luggage space is also a very good advantage in this vehicle.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox 1200cc in petrol is a descent one. I have crossed 19000Km in my i20magna(Petrol) purchased on Apr 15 2010. Even now I am getting 12km per ltr in city with 100% A/c. It I use Shell petrol i am getting 13.5 Km per ltr. Only I feel that engine would be better if it is for 1400CC. 

Ride Quality & Handling I am 100% satified with Quality they are providing. And dont worry about Handling at all.

Final Words Its Good vehicle.

Areas of improvement 1400CC in petrol would be better.

Style, Interiors/Exterior, ComfortLess Engine power 1400 CC would more better in petrol versions

Final Words I have purchased from trident hyundai bangalore but the experence with them is not good. service is not at all good.

Areas of improvement Hyundai has to look in to there service center as it is spoiling the other plus points of car. Attutude at the service station is not good, when went for the 3rd free service surprise to know that theyu do not have details (history) of the car in there system when I have done first 2 services from hem only. After follow up come to know that they are claiming that 3rd service is done at Sikkim ( for KA registered car) in the same month. when I show them the service coupens and car which is not serviced they are going by there records only and not accepting the service coupens from hyundai.

Exterior Look is too good when compared to other hatchbacks. It also has gained lots of positive feedback from its users. I booked a Magna Diesel 1.4 after testing all hatchbacks from all the showrooms and finally had a thought to go either for a Polo or i20 and decided to buy i20 because of its stylish look and awesome steering control.

In my point of view, based on Indian traffic and road conditions, if a car gives 14+ mileage inside city, then i would say its a good car and i20 is worth for it. what else you want, on highway its mileage is 20+.

I own a i20 Diesel Black diamond and it really gives a comfort drive whenever i go to office or for a trip. i can definitely suggest this to everyone whoever is looking for a hatchback, if their budget is 7 lakhs for a diesel version.
