Hyundai I20 is a great car but soon the competition is going to heat up in this segment with hot hatches like Fiat Grande Punto and Honda Jazz. Then it may suffer defeat but for now it is a great car to own. With great style both exterior and interior and with no compromise on safety of the passengers with 6 airbags it makes a good buy. People complain that it is underpowered but it is not. Once you own the car you will know that is adequately powered but a tad more power would have made it a joy to drive.

Exterior So far, this is looking very very good. What’s missing here is the double horn; the i20 has a single horn system which was not sounding good or loud. We have been missing one thing on many of the cars is the retractable mirrors (self folding electric mirrors) and we are delighted to find this convenience on the i20.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Awesome, The twin color theme using chocolate brown and beige rewards this car a distinct personality. A very ergonomically sized steering wheel is placed with buttons for the stereo. Steering wheel is made from rich plastics and the leather wrap offers you support and grip. Adjustable for height and reach, the car is ready for a driver of any size.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The i20 is realy realy hot.
Ride Quality & Handling Very Good. The climate control has a neat display reading out variables like fan speed, modes using eye-friendly graphics. The factory fitted stereo has AUX, USB and iPod connectivity and the regular CD, radio functions by default. The sound quality is very good, better that the Fabia and the Swift’s speakers. Track and album titles were projected on the main MID, which educates passengers on the music that we prefer.
Final Words A little expensive, other than that every thing is awesome. The dashboard looks like it came from a car several segments higher. For this price, the dashboard quality and practicality does not get any better. Electrically retractable mirrors are not common in this league. The sound quality is crisp

My Car is 150 Kms and one week old. So far my experience has been Very Good. The Car's exterior styling is very Good, with LED lights on the side Mirrors. The Styling is typical European one which is very good in this case.

Very Comfortable, Excellent AC with Auto Climate Controller, also the Music System is very Good. The Seats are comfortable and the interor overall is ver good. In the Night the CAR really GLOWS inside with blue and red lights. Also the audio is very good with excellent sound system.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
So far the performance is very good driving in the Chennai city traffic, intiallity had difficulty with Gear Box and Cluth . But now quite used to it. Fuel economy cannot comment now since my first load of petrol is not yet over.
Ride Quality & Handling
Ride quality is very good, but having some problem in reversing. Must go for a Parking Sensor for a comfortable reversing and parking the car. But the Sterring Wheel is excellent and very smooth for driving in the City traffic.
Final Words
Excellent Car should people should go for it. Even though higher cost for a Hatch back, but the quality is really good . Also my Experice with DSC Hundai - chennai was very good. In fact i had gone for a buy back of my ZEN and what ever they have promised me they had delivered to me on time. Initally i was little worried because of some reports about DSC Hyndai in this forum, but i was taken well by their sales person Mr.Sathish.
So far excellent memory of purchasing i20 from DSC-Hyndai - chennai.
Areas of improvement
The Car should come from Parking Sensors for better parking, because of some blind spots.

I have purchased i20 as soon as its diesel version launched in Dec 2009. From the beginning I knew it would be smart investment. Being a proud owner of santro XING for 3 yrs, I knew that though the car sounds overpriced in the segment, it ll be worth more. Besides hyundai's superb after sales service prompted me not to look for other premium hatchbacks.
Exterior It has a very chic looks. The car is both muscular as well as suave, sturdy as well as cute. Though it is the broadest hatchback, one never feels how easily it can be maneuvered in the city with the help of extra light and responsive steering wheel.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Features are something makes this car stand out. For a price of 8 lakhs, it easily surpasses 10 lakh car in terms of goodies. I initially had the new honda city in mind but this car made me opt out of it. Besides honda cars can be bit bland at times. Space is great on front as well as rear. Ample of head room is provided. Only thing is for a 6 feet tall driver like me, dashboard can obstruct your left knee. Though it can be rectified by height adjusting the seat and steering.
A/C has always been big let down for me in hyundai cars(no wonder they are not major players in high end luxury cars in India). Climate control works hard but fails to impress. Controls are ergonomically located and can be used even with closed eyes after getting used to them. Beige interiors are very pleasant and makes an eye candy. Plastic quality is very good if not the best. Steering mounted controls, electronically retractable mirrors, usb/aux port etc. make life easy in mumbai's sad traffic.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is clearly a class winner here. It is the fastest diesel hatchback in India. Once you pass 1800 rpm, turbo kicks in and one can not believe the power output of the beauty. I drove it on Bombay-Pune expressway and not even once it gave me a chance to find a glitch in performance. Such vehicle can only boost the ego of a person. Fuel economy is good. In city it returns 14 kpl consistently, while on highway it can fetch you up to 20 kpl with steady driving. Gearbox is super smooth and responsive. Reverse gear is before 1st so it takes some time to get used to for new users.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality of the car is bit stiff and makes you realize that it is a hatchback after all. Light steering wheel in city traffic feels great but at high speeds it can make you nervous.
Final Words Overall the car is great value for money. Good looks, power packed engine, ample of features can make this car a perfect choice for Indian buyers as we tend to desire more at less price. So if you want the piece of mind just go for it. It ll be totally worth it.
Areas of improvement A/C needs to be consistent and more powerful. Central locking doesn't make you feel satisfied. Ride quality can be made better.

Exterior Excellent styling with clean lines and an aristocratic look. Appealing from all angles.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Great features, very spacious interiors and extremely comfortable seating. The car now comes with automatic climate control (I have the older version though), all-round power windows, digital driver information panel, in-dash AM/FM/CD player with four speakers and two tweeters, seat-belt warning chime for the driver, rake and reach adjustable steering, cooled glove box, central locking with key etc. My dealer in Pune offered remote central locking as a free accessory.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Good performance except for the slightly sluggish second gear. I have driven the car for more than 6,500 kms (sedate driving). Fuel economy: 14.7 in Pune, 18.1 on Pune-Mumbai Expressway (100% AC at level 1).
Ride Quality & Handling Good handling and stability, brakes are very good. Ride could have a been a touch softer. Ground clearance too can do well with some improvement.
Final Words An excellent car, a VFM product with lots of space, features and comfort.

Exterior The styling is pretty good - no sharp edges - rounded edges. Decent choice of colors - I particularly liked the Sparkle Blue which I selected.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Lots of space for the front riders. After test driving other competing cars (Swift, Micra), i20 makes you feel as if you are high up riding an SUV. Hyundai has loaded up all the features and options - USB adaptor, gear-shift advice indicator, cooling-heating box in glove compartment to keep your drinks cool/warm, automatic courtesy light, boot light, powered mirrors, external temperature indicator.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox 1.2 L engine is generally sufficient, but on certain occasions (esp when the car is loaded), you wish for 1.4 L engine. The manual gear shifting is convenient and pretty smooth. I have been averaging around 14.5-15 kmpl within city limits (in Hyderabad/Cyberabad area). Witht the AC on during summers, it has generally been around 12.5-13.5 kmpl.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is one of the best aspects of i20. I had test driven Nissan Micra (and had a Zen and Civic), So Micra's ride quality was more like that of Zen and i20's was more like that of Civic. This single aspect was compelling enough to make i20 win. The car handles quite well in the traffic - though sometimes its slightly larger frame makes it a bit tough to manage parking in those tight basement parking spots!
Final Words If you are looking for a fully loaded, spacious car with good fuel economy, at a reasonable price, i20 is the way to go.
Areas of improvement As mentioned earlier, i20 actually deserves a 1.4 L engine. Hyundai does give 1.4 L variant, but currently that comes only in automatic transmission.

After doing lot of research I owned one i20 Asta CRDI. Now I've crossed more than 6000 Kms. Eventhough, I liked performance of Punto 90 bhp, decided to go for i20 due to better resale value and service network
Exterior I'll rate this as better than Swift and Punto. Will consider swift slightly old aged, even though looks are person dependent.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Looks classy and feels rich. Better than punto or swift. Looks very modern and can compete with any luxury car.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox One of the best in its class. Will call this an yamaha RX 100 (if someone has driven this legend of 80's) among cars in 3L to 10L category..
After 2000 rpm, engine gives lots of pick up. I've touches 170 kmph and still vehicle was stable. plain road acceleration is excellent and can beat any SUV on highways. Will not feel like driving diesel car.
Ride Quality & Handling Excellent ride quality and safety features on good roads. 4 wheel disc with ABS,EBD and airbags gives confidence to the driver.
Final Words If you are looking at performance and not bothered much about mileage and mostly drive on good roads and can afford to spend slightly more for performance.. then this is the car for you.
Areas of improvement The biggest drawback which i'll tell is its poor ground clearance. In a moderately bad road you will have every chance of lower bumper getting scratches.
Further suspension also is slightly soft which can unsettle the car in slightly bad road. But on good roads this car rules.

Exterior Looks great and there is no comparison in this segment. i20 will certainly stand out in a crowd.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Class interior, spacious, front seats are quite comfortable for long drive,three adults can comfortably sit at the back seat.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is quite smooth and silent, fuel economy is reasonable good. This car needs bit more power for the young generation. I should add that this car is good for senior citizens in india.
Ride Quality & Handling Handling and ride quality are best in this segment. This car is very stable at high speeds and no vibration at 100 kmph or above.
Final Words Hyundai i20 asta 1.2 is an excellent VFM car on indian roads. no easy comparison excepting its power. I will recommend this car for all senior cityzens of this great country. A safe, comfortable and beautiful car from hyundai motor india.
Areas of improvement Ground clearance, engine power, bottle storage at comfortable location and last but not the least, technicians at hyundai dealerships must be trained well.
