    Areas of improvement On the technical front, grand i10 is pretty good, you’ve read all the reviews. Its not the best car i’ve driven, but its fine and easy to get accustomed to, My problem is with the service during and after sale:

    I settled for it because it was comfortable to drive, had decent features and most importantly, I was told the delivery would be “immediate”. Would you have ever guessed that meant almost 2 months!! when I booked the car, I was told the delivery would be within 2 weeks thereafter, nothin and the excuses were ridiculous. Not yet left chennai (after sayin’ that the car had left chennai 10 days ago!).  “left chennai (2wks ago) but not yet reached bombay”, “reached bom but registration will take 4 working days (instead it took 2 weeks!!)”. As a result, though I had paid up for the car in full (about 7.4 lakhs for the premium model), I was asked to dole out more at the time of delivery as the insurance charges had gone up! decency dictates they should’ve absorbed that as I had already paid for the car in full but whatever. Anyway, relieved to finally get my car, the excitement had long died with the delays.

    3 months down, I get a call that my service is due we set up a day and time for the car to be picked up I was just back from hospital after surgery so when the driver came to collect the car, my dad showed him a scratch on the body that he requested to be touched up a note was made. The car was taken. I got a call from the chunna bhatti workshop asking if I had any issues with the car. I said it seemed fine to me, but I hadn’t driven it in the past 10 days (due to my surgery) so requested him to check again, I reminded him about the scratch that I required touched up he said the shade would vary slightly. I said that was fine, he also suggested I get the anti-rust coating applied on the silencer and the engine, setting me back by another 1,600 bucks, the car was to be delivered the same day. I got a call in the eve from the workshop asking if it was ok if the driver delivered the car the following day as it was raining. I agreed. The following day the driver delivered the car, he handed me the keys got all the papers signed by me sayin’ that everything was done 2 my satisfaction, I paid him the money. My mom gathered the car cover, so that we could place it in the boot. we took the stairs to go down, the driver took the lift by the time we got down, he had already left! He did not even wait for us to check the car. on checking the car, the touch-up was not done and when we tried to open the boot, it just wouldn’t open! (now that’s new!), I went back up and called customer service at the Modi showroom as the workshop number was not reachable. she told me she’d get back 2 me  half an hour later I called her back she told me she couldn’t get a hold of anyone at the workshop I gave her a sound hearing an hour later, a lady from the workshop called, I narrated my experience once more. she said she’d look into it (how reassuring!). its been 6 hrs now i guess she’s still lookin’.

    Granted, i was very stupid to sign and give him the money before checking the car but i thought the company and its people had more integrity than that I had heard about the bad after-sales service experience many of my acquaintances had but I went against my better judgement and thought that maybe it was in the past everyone there was being polite and courteous. I learnt the hard way that that means absolutely nothing. The apathy and helplessness is astonishing I would gladly sell off this car and go in for a honda, which was my first choice but the waiting period was too long. With the condition in which the car is returned, what is the guarantee that the anti-rust coating was even applied? take their word for it? like that means swat!

    my suggestion, if u don’t care much for after-sales support, and want mainly the features, go 4 it else save ur hard-earned money and time. go for it if you have the time and inclination to fight on petty grounds. else save yourself the stress.
