Hi All,
I have been using Getz 1.1 GLE for the last one year. here are my observations -
1 Comfort - Good leg space and good boot space
2 Ride Quality - Best in class. The weight of the car prevents it from being jumping jack on the road. Good Suspension system ensures pliant ride quality.
3 NVH - inititally high till such time the engine heats up (about 2 mins). post heating up the car is more or less silent. at high revs the car will give coarse noise. Engine seems to abuse you for the rough use you put it to. (after abt 3.5K RPM)
4. Mileage - in city - 12.5+ (bangalore) and highway -15KMPL - the mileage as we all know is a function of our driving style as well. some cars have slight increase or decrease in mileage if we rev the car high. In Getz if you rev it hard, you can expect mileage to go to about 10 as well. However a civilized driving will give 12+. i have consistently got it over the last one year.
5. Gearing - silky smooth gears. since the engine is essentially a re-tuned Santro ERLX engine, and the car is abut 150 KG more than the santro, the car has to be kept in the right gear. However, since the clutch is light and the gear is smooth, it is not an issue. for people who do not like to shift gears, cars with excellent bottom end torque are good like - Santro / Wagon R / Spark etc.
6. Features -like the tilt steering is good. But if there are not too many drivign the car then once you set the steering at the right level you hardle ever change it. hence good to have not must to have.
7. AC - good for BLR. however in sweltering sun, it may prove to be inadequate as other readers suggest. Cant testify for other cities.
8. Dashboard - wide and clutter free. the instrument panel is also clutter free. the dash has speedo / techo / fuel and trip meters. The good news here is that despite Getz having a beige interior, the top of the dashis grey. this is really helpful as beige dash has a high reflection on the main glass of the car.
The dash also has two air vents that are pointed towards the front two windows. when one is driving in extreme cold / moist conditions and turns the AC to the mode in which the front glass gets de-misted, the presence od air flow through the side vents to the front window glass helps to clear the front windows as well. this is very though after.
9.Pricing - cant comment. i found VFM in it. for others it is subjective.
10.Spares - this car carries a Santro engine, hence you can rest be assured of the cost of spares. it is cost effective. often the labour is more than the cost of spares.
Overall - a good car to have. it is not a drivers car for the car enthusiasts but an excellent family car. for a regular commuter like me, it is a good investment that i think i made.
My recommendation - (which Getz to chose)
Drivers Car - Getz CRDI
Family Car (eco) +Mileage - Getz 1.1
Family +Driving Pleasure - Getz 1.3
Hope this review is useful for you. Remember - with Getz, you will not make a wrong choice. Al that you need to chose is the model.
Request - Kindly rate the review so that i can get to know if this was useful to you. if there are some questions, please feel free to write.

This is a follow up to my earlier review- which was written after a couple of days that i bought the car.
First- the drive felt extremely sluggish cause i was expecting the response like a santro- but if you really push the pedal when you want the pick up and lower the gear, it does respond. The great part is that when the car takes off, it make you forget the hick up on taking off. Tip- do be careful on the overtakes and when you are loaded with 3 in the back seat
A good thing is that on stop-go city drives u can keep it on 1/2 gear and do not need to keep foot on the gear a lot as the engine braking helps slowing down anyways
Second- The ride comfort is not great- its superb...esp on the city potholes which appear overnight on the bangalore roads! Just go with confidence (even when driving at night) and the car would not let you down
Drive it at above 60 (when you can!) and see the ride quality..its amazingly good..does not at all feel like a hatch, till u look at the rear view mirror:)
Third- the leg space at back is extremely great, if you compare (on carwale the specs) you would see its front and leg space is more or equal to Honda City, Verna and even at par with Skoda Octavia. Now THAT is something when you are with 5 people inside( and tall folks)! The small pockets to store things and the big dashboard come in handy many times( esp to store kids stuff). The view from the drivers seat is great- just like any big car and helps esp in the rains..
Fourth- The mileage is a little disappointing, i got around 13/14 when the service was done, later dropped to around 11-12, but then i keep the A/C on -esp the defogger. I am not sure why does it need the defogger that much as it was not the case with my earlier car in the same weather conditions.
Tips- Do take the GVS version with wider tyres, wooden finish and wheel covers- looks great
Take the extended warranty, for about 10 rs per day for the next 3 years u have peace of mind..
Take a test drive of 1.3 and 1.1 both- see if your kind of drive needs that extra power- would SURELY not if you are in a city with max speed 40-50 and occassional 60..unless you are a sporty driver- 1.1 would do..
I would have loved to have better interiors in the GLE version and maybe wheel covers and wider tyres..
Excellent on space, ride comfort is superb, v practical, great road handlingFeels sluggish (at times though), mileage is not as expected for 1.1

I am here for the first time posting review on my new GETZ Prime. I purchased it last October 2007. These are my views,
Interiors & Exteriors: Felt good with beige color inside and Golden Earth out side. More to that it is spacious with respect to seating and could accommodate almost anything that could you normally carry.
Mileage: On highway got up to 19 kmph and city limits around 14 kmph with controlled use of AC.
Just an update...Though I am not finicky but since I have spent a big buck I checked the milage for last 3 months. Here is the out come (approx figures) I took these readings at half tank usage after filling the tank full. Instead of 22.5Ltr I calculated by 24Ltr
Previous Reading Current Reading M/L-Half
3661 3980 13.29
4127 4480 14.71
4662 5005 14.29
Performance: I guess every one is troubled with AC in 1.1L engine and it is the same with me. Otherwise the power is admirable. I drove Alto and Palio it stand no comparison in this segment. The vehicle was very stable at 130 km/h speed!
Seating & Driving comfort: For sure I enjoyed and the passengers too including my brother-in-law who is 6 feet tall.
No Noise: While the vehicle is not moving you can hardly hear the engine noise when it is on! And you got to check whether it is on many times!
Features: The best of all you can get but more important is the space that you can make use of including the adjustable seats
CONS
For the same price they could have come with tubeless tiers or ABS or Airbags that could have added to safety.

I have always been very impressed with the ways of Hyundai adressing customer needs. Getz is a great package of comfort and features. I have been using Santro and Getz is my new purchase. Having done 250 kms as of now in city I can tell you this car is as practical as is Santro or even more.. You have place for everything...Mobile/s, Water Bottles, Cans, Magazines, 2DIN Music System, Sun Glasses, CDs and Cassettes, Wallet and also for a 2 Ltr Pepsi Bottle...still you are left with spaces to be filled. Clutch Lock is a great safety features with kids being around (car starter cranks with clutch pressed)...kudos to hyundai for offering practical products.
Only let down is 1.1L Engine. It is not designed for this weight, the car feels heavily underpowered while overtaking you have to plan everything including switching of the Aircon getting into the lower gears. Hyundai has been able to bring down the price no doubt 'with this engine' but guys beware there are no driving thrills infact too many gear changes.
Good Style, Very Strudy, Very Spacious, Very well loaded with features at this priceIts only "1.1L Engine' which is a big let down.Exterior/Styles
