did a good research on cars in the indian market. started off with hyundai accent, chevrolet aveo and even dug around skoda fabia.
did a lot of reading at carwale as well.. understanding the views of the car users' community.
aveo was a choice in the initial stage and so was accent. accent in person looked like a ship than a car and in chennai traffic, one could end up hitting in many places!
aveo test drive happened later on. the suspension was horrible.. there is a patch in the velachery tambaram road which is built by the govt esp. for car test drives.. i felt that aveo made me look as if i was sitting on the road and being dragged.
the dealer discount on aveo was pathetic and it took a lot of talking to get some decent offers. by then - it was really out of steam in my scheme of things.
decided to go back to the hatchback/small car segment. maruti has a lot of inherent advantages in that the service centres are spread across most locations in india. but it didnt give me the cut when it came to interiors. the dull black front section really turned me off.
my criteria for a car was quite simple - good suspension, decent fuel economy, good quality of ride - comfort and better interiors.
didnt want to buy something too simple looking (interior wise). so maruti went out of the window. the only option was hyundai. typically hyundai cars are good from an interior perspective and also the suspension is quite effective for indian roads. which car to go for in hyundai?
i10 was too small for 5 ppl to travel... we checked it out at the dealers'. hyundai getz prime - looked good - with the criteria i had in mind. the interiors looked rich for a car, my parents wouldnt have to suffer thro long journeys at the back seat and yes, it gave a good spacy feeling inside the car.
thats how my car hunting session ended. booked it and its soon to be at my door. will confirm on the economy front soon enough.
good styling, excellent space for the back seat folks, easy to drive in city limitsnothing much - so far!
