    DRIVING:
    Did a short drive once

This is a review based after deciding to purchase a 3rd vehicle for our family. We wanted a small vehicle which can run in the city and occasionally long drives. I had loved the eon at its launch itself but then had a lot of mixed reviews. I never liked the alto. I dont have anything against the car but i have been in alto of my relatives, friends, the car looks and feels an absoulute compromise. But with the mixed reviews i was even confused for the Eon. But the TD and two month owning experiecne of one of my collegue has cleared the doubts. I took a TD of Eon & within 5 mins of the alto LXI 800 cc and K10 as well. My experience of the two TDs is mentioned below

Exterior Does not need any comparison. Is generations ahead.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) It is a feature rich car. Very good interiors the moment you get it. It does not feel an entry level car at all. The features, the overall fit and finish, the quality really makes it a real winner.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Well here i will break it into 2 parts.

    1. Eon Vs Alto 800: Eon did have a lil vibration intitially but was negligible(this could be as i am used to an i20 and i definately felt i20 more refined, worng comarison though). The pick up was decent, the AC was good and the power steering was decent. It did somewhere make you feel a 800cc vehicle which i had fogrot as was floored by the features and quality fit and finish the engine makes you realise that. But overall it is a very very decent performing car for the city and acceptable for the highways. It definately is a pick among 800cc vehicles. all the reviews that performance and engine is not good i hope people have actually driven it.

Wheas the Alto 800cc is been doing duty since many years now. The car was decent and no ways bad but lost to the Eon in all aspects, be it gear shift, vibrations, AC.

    2. Eon Vs Altok10: Here is where Alto i felt was a lil better. THe K10 was a different story than the 800. The gear shifting was better, the overall performance was lil better than Eon. But if you say that it is way ahead i would disagree.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality was much much better in the Eon. THe suspensions look to be made for Indian roads and really do their job. we were 4 people incuding the company staff at the TD. Two people at the rear felt Eon to have a better ride than the Alto. Also the space and comfort was more felt in Eon.

Final Words I have booked the Eon. was not very convined for the Eon initially reading some negative riviews. But my own experience and my friends expericne has changed it all & i also realized that the negative reviews is similar to negative reviews to i10 & i20 initially when it was launched by some ppl who are scared that Hyundai will takeover their fav Maruti. But i10 & i20 have proved that it is a superior product and so will eon. also on the price it isnt a very pricey choice as potrayed by some. The price for eon and alto (ex showroom Mum) are mentioned below.

    1. Eon Era : 315925

    2. Alto Lxi 800: 289667

    3. Alto Lxi K10: 312462

The difference is 25k between alto 800 Lxi and eon & only 3k between k10 and eon. These are comparison for similar models of two cars. Now eon is targetting two segments. One is ppl like me who are buying 2nd or 3rd car for family or people buying 1st entry level car. I think both the segments would not at all mind paying 15-20K more for this product & package.

Areas of improvement May be can offer some freebeies and can get some disc of around 15k. BTW i managed to get both from Shreenath Hyundai at Mumbai so i am not complaining here. With a 15k disc this became more of a VFM for me.

Looks, Features, dosent make you feel an entry level carcould have been 10-15K cheaper
