5.0 Exterior | 5.0 Comfort | 4.0 Performance |
3.0 Fuel Economy | 4.0 Value for Money |
Exterior This is a head turner with stylish curves and a coupe like body. Build quality is very good and you can feel it when the heavy doors closed with a thud sound. The LED tail lamps are also very attractive and catches the attention of the people.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Primium black finish soft plastic interiors with touches of sliver on the panel and doors looks very classy. Front seats are extremely comfortable but the back seats are slightly tilted at an angle and getting in and out becomes slightly difficult for old people. Ampl headroom for all passengers though. Back seats also lacks thigh support.
The rear AC is not very effective in peak summer days in Delhi. Also there are a few minor issues which Hyundai has failed to take care of in this model. 1. Doors don't lock automatically ( no speed sensing locks). 2. Everytime you lock the car through remote, it honks which is irritating and cannot be disabled.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I have a 2.0 L Petrol Automatic which I have driven for 6000 KM. The mileage I could extract in City driving in Gurgaon ( in Eco) mode is between 9-11 Kmpl only which is not as good as my earlier car Toyota Corolla which used to give my 12-13 in city driving. If you drive the car in normal or sports mode, then the city mileage would be around 8.5 to 9.5 max. So not a fuel efficient car in comparison with it's German or Japanese counterparts.
Engine Performance is not for the enthusiasts. It likes to be driven in a relaxed manner. HAs a Lenier accelaration in ECO and Normal mode. For overtaking, you have to go to Manual or Sports mode. However the PEtrol Engine is super smooth and noiseless. The cabin is virtually silent and unless you look at the panel, you won't know if the Engine is running or not.
The Automatic transmission is standard one and is not as good as the DSG in Skoda or Jetta. Still it gets the job done efficiently and gear shifts are very smooth.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride Quality and HAndling have greatly imporved from pervious avtar of Elantra. The car sails through small bumps and speed breakers smoothly. It's quite stable at high speed turns as well. Probably due to an improved suspension and chasis.
Final Words HAving driven for 6 months and 6000 KM, I feel this has been a value for money considering other options like Altis, Octavia, Jetta, Cruize and Fluence. With very low maintenance costs against the others clubbed with Stylish exteriers and interiors, this has been a good buy for me.
Areas of improvement Not much but would be good if they can somehow improve the Engine performance. The 2.0 L 150 BHP engine really doesn't appears to that much powerful as compared to the likes of Skodas and Jettas.
Stylish interiris and exteriors, Excellent ride quality and handling. Super smooth engine ( Petrol)Performance not as good as it's german counterparts.
