Exterior It is one of the best-looking SUVs available in the market when it was launched. With fluidic design, Hyundai made a giant leap towards better aesthetics and overall class appeal of their vehicles and Creta reached up to my expectations. The Projector headlamps and Static Bending Lamps (SBL) on the top-end variant which I currently own provide ample lighting when driving on highways and bendy roads.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Generally, affordable SUVs are not suitable to be chauffeur driven but Creta, on the other hand, is quite different. It has been provided with ample knee room, decent amount of headroom to easily accommodate a person below 6' and better thigh supports as well which make long drives fun. The same applies to the front cabin. The seats are very spacy and supportive to avoid driver fatigue. This car can easily fit 5 people in total.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The SX(O) is equipped with a 1.6-litre CRDi engine shared from the famous Verna Fluidic. The 127bhp of power and 265 Nm of Torque is greatly utilized when driving in City traffic as the high-end torque is available from as low as 1900 rpm which means you can hardly place your foot on the accelerator. The real fun comes when you take your Creta on the highways. The cruising speed of 90 kmph is achieved at a quite impressive 2100-2200 rpm which makes the engine less strained during long journeys. Overtaking is also hassle free as you put a gear down, you can easily rush pass through the traffic. With mileage ranging from 15 kmpl in the city and 18+ kmpl on the highway, its is a small price to pay provided the responsive engine.
Ride Quality & Handling The powerful engine in addition to an ergonomic and a spacious cabin makes for a pleasant driving experience overall. The power steering is also satisfactorily responsive. On the top end variant, you will be provided with a few driver-aid features such as Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), Electronic Stability Control (ESC). HAC is helpful when on twisty and hilly roads that let you get a safe start uphill, while the ESC takes care of the engine, braking and steering during sudden braking and turning to keep you from skidding. The top end variant is equipped with 6 air bags which ensures maximum safety in an unfortunate event of a crash.
Final Words My verdict is that if you want an SUV with a sedan-like driving experience and if you can push your budget a bit more then Creta is the best buy for your bucks.
Areas of improvement The plastic on the door panels and power window buttons can be made a bit premium. AVN can be more attractive and user-friendly.
