After having read so much about the honda jazz, i took a test drive at the local honda dealer. the interiors completely blew me away: incomparably better than the i20 or the ritz! you feel like you are sitting in a premium car,and it does make you proud to be in the car!!i have tested skoda fabia, but the jazz interiors are more modern and better thought out. as a personal car, interiors are comfy and user freindly. rear seat backrest is a tad upright, and front armrest would have been a nice touch. but overall, i would rate jazz interiors far superior to the city or any other 7 lakh rupee car available in the market. once we got rolling, i was surprised by the unruffled ride over patchy guwahati roads, and by the smooth performance of the 1.2 litre engine. i had driven a 1.6 litre baleno to the showroom for the test drive, and i couldnt feel much difference between the jazz and the baleno on the same strecth of road, driven similarly!! do not let yourself be fooled by the rear hatch or the specs on paper: the jazz is the City in all respects: it is better than the previous gen iDSi 1.5 litre honda city. we happily paid Rs 8 lakh for that car, that makes the jazz extremely good value for money, contrary to its image of being pricey! the upside of smaller engine capacity is lower NVH, better fuel economy and a greener environment. the jazz is the way of the future: very soon most auto companies will have to follow honda and load their cars with tech for better space, better mileage, better performance coupled with smaller engines. i have decided to sell my baleno and buy a deep sapphire blue jazz. the jazz is for you if you value top class quality and intelligent user freindly automobiles : and quality never came cheap, did it now!! the honda jazz is not your average neighbourhood maruti hatchback, its the way ahead for forward thinking automobile design in the foreseeable future.

Exterior The car looks awesome and makes every one turn their heads at it when you drive. The front aerodynamic bumpers enriches the looks. The Honda logo in chrome (only in select variant) makes it look even more sporty. The design of head lamps are excellent and they give good vision during night time too. The alloy wheel with 15" tyres adds beauty to the car. The wipers need a special mention here they are very sturdy. the winshield(front glass) looks awesome and huge.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) This car has the best spacing in this segment. The seats are very comfortable and no one would regret during long drives. The rear seat also comes with a reclining option which makes the rear passengers feel at ease during long drives. The rear passengers also have a additional A/C vent under the front seats. The car comes with a beige black interior(Only in Jazz select and Jazz bais version) which gives a rich look to the interior. There are nearly 4 bottle holders and 6 cup holders. 2 cupholders are in front of the A/C vents thus keeps your drink cold enough for hours. The dash board looks magnificent like that in a higher version Honda car. The integrated audio system adds beauty to the existing features, this has a usb input aswell. An ipod is also compatible with this system. There are 2 glove boxes which helps in additional storage. The trip meter has multiple functionalities which includes an average mileage display, Range display(Kms that the car will cover with existing fuel, fuel utilisation meter(between 0 to 40) which shows the amount of fuel that the car consumes while the car is accelerated, a regular trip meter and the total kilometers covered. The most important feature is the magic seats where the rear seat can be folded completely like a bed(Not recommended during driving). This feature gives enough space(you can also bring a cycle inside the car after doing this). the seats can also be lifted which helps you to keep objects that are tall(like your golf kit). This feature makes access easy to the boot from inside. The front seat belts have a height adjuster aswell. The rear seats also comes with the headrests which are comfortable too.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox There is no engine noise when the car stands still(I tried starting the car wehn the engine was on atleast two times and was fooled :)). The engine goes past 100 and reaches 140 effortlessly. After which it slowly loses breath. I clocked 165 on this car with 4 people on board. I beleive this can touch 170 easily with 2 people. Another excellent thing on this car is the gear ratios, ulike the other cars in this segment you can put the 5th gear when the speedo touches 40 and the engine takes the load and doesnt bump.so there will be no frequent gear shifts required during city drive. The gear shifting is very smooth. The Honda as usual comes with loads of safety features like ABS, ESP, airbags, engine immobilizer as a standard fit.
Ride Quality & Handling Like that of other Honda cars the Handling of jazz is excellent. The steering is very comfortable. The audio controls placed on the steering is also perfectly mated.Nobody can pinpoint a mistake in its handling. The suspensions are soft and are very suitable for crusing. Coming to the fuel economy in city under heavy traffic conditions the mileage was 9.5 kmpl and in highways it was 16+. The soft suspension works out well during cornering and during hill drives but gives heavy bumps on bad indian roads(unlike the swift which has hard suspension and is totally opposite to this).
Final Words The only regret in jazz was its pricing. Now after the slash of 1.7 lacs i personally feel its the best car in the segment. There could have been a diesel engine in this segment to make it stand apart from its competitors(Till now theer are no diesel engines from Honda. hope they will unveil it next year). This car is the best in its segment. I can strongly say that once you drive this car you will have no regrets and will not like to drive the others cars in this segment. you will be a proud owner and will get excellent comments from other car owners who drive this one. You will also see people regretting for not buying this car(Mainly i20 petrol, swift petrol owners will regret)
Areas of improvement Rear design can be improved. The rear design seems to be very simple and makes it look like a very small car. The base needs improvement, particularly for indian versions.

Exterior I have liked the looks of the car rightfrom the day I saw it first in flesh ! The design is contemporary and futuristic,so don't worry about the jazz ageing soon.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The most amazing part of this jazz is its interiors. Get into the car once and I bet u will fall in love with the Jazz - fit n finish, excellent Honda quality evident in each N every component, excellent design of dashboard, almost romantic lighting of theconsole dashboard - all of these are sure to impress u!
If this wasn't enough, u will be amazed by the space of the car!!! 3 adults n a toddler can comfortably sit with enough legroom for a 6 footer driver n a 6 footer rear seat occupant. The width is easily as much as the Ertiga (I took test drives of both cars within an hours interval
Seats are comfortable, but a little more padding wud have helped.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Just one word must suffice for the engine performance - Honda!!!! It's pure refinement at play, super slick gear box is apleasure to use. Fuel economy should be around 14 in city and 17 highway, not great, but I can liver with it.
Ride Quality & Handling Effortless!!! The symmetry of the overall package comes into effect while u drive this beauty. Space, premium comfort, quality, refinement and the pride of driving a Honda sure will give a HIGH!
Final Words Test drive and u will buy it ;)
Areas of improvement Honda should do a lot more to promote the Jazz, just to help those bench sitters to come over and make a decision to buy the car! There is immense pressure on a middle class family 'against' going for the jazz due to price-value perception and 'kitna deti hai' attitude. Honda needs to make it easier for the interested buyers to increase sales of Jazz.

My First Impression about Jazz was very much like other people, who have mentioned about the negative aspects of JAZZ, but my entire perception changed when I technically had the first view of HONDA JAZZ in the showroom in Pune. From surface you tend to have negative impression, but further as you deep dive into the creative aspects of the Japenese minds, you get convinced about the precision, finish, creativity and further its price.
Exterior Very well aerodynamics, Decent body contours ( Typical Japenese), Very well designed Headlights & Tail Lamps. Required or rather much more ground clearance for Indian Riding Conditions. Very Balanced NVH ( Needless to mention, as its HONDA after all). Alloy Wheels complete the final touch to give this baby a trendy / sporty look.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) IP is better than Honda CITY. Music System & Controls are very futuristic designed (Hats off to the Stying team). Steering Wheel is very very sporty. Speedometers are very attractive. Seat Height Adjuster was missing in the earlier version, which is available now, which is a Plus Point.
I have worked in the Automotive Industry from last 10 years, hence would like to say, that the fit and finish of Plastic Parts is just better than Perfect in the category of Hatchbacks available in India. Truely crafted for the style specific Species.
View from any seat and direction is amazing, especially the driver seat view is very driver friendly. You get the feel of all glass view even in the second row, which is a very pleasant feeling, specially for small children ( They Enjoy the non -obstructed view in all directions)
Minor utility aspects are majorly address. MAGIC Seats is the most important feature of this vehicle, which makes it a perfect family car.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Woul have appreciated, to have 1.4 Litre Engine At least...! Feels Sloppy in the first & second gear, but responsive in the third and fourth gear. Mileage always depends from person to person driving, but the average KMPL expected is 15 min. in the city condition with A/C on.
Ride Quality & Handling GOOD. As expected from HONDA Stables.
Final Words Costly. but will not dissappoint you for sure, especially if you are ready to spend more, for much more, that JAZZ will deliver for sure. Not worth comparing with any other indian Hatchback, as the thinking process gone in designing this CAR is way head than the rest of the breed.
Areas of improvement HONDA needs some cost effective Value engineering done, to match the market desired price, so that the Automobile lovers can enjoy HONDA product at reasonable price. Needs atleast another 1 Lac drop to boost Jazz's Sales.

This is a review for Honda Jazz Select purchased in Bangalore in Dec 2010.
Exterior The car has very good exterior design. Well, every car has its own unique character when it comes to design, hence its a matter of personal choice. I feel Jazz and Punto are the best looking hatchbacks.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Cabin inside is designed beautifully. You get most of the premium features expected in cars these days. Having said that, it would have been nice if more justification is done to the price tag by including auto-climate and USB port as well. Quality of interior is top notch. No complaints on any of the things provided standard. I like the arrangement of various dials, trip related info. Music system is fabulous with perfectly palced steering mounted controls. Space is probably the best among hatchbacks and may be better than most of the (<10 lakh)sedans as well. Seats are designed really well and make room for additional load easily.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Fuel economy is excellent. I get around 15 kmpl consistently. My driving conditions are 40% city, 60% highway, AC on occasionally. Now comes the 2 bad things about this car : gearbox and performance. Gearbox is really irritating. Changing gears never gives you a good feeling since it is never smooth. This is something I did not expect at all from Honda. Performance is not that great. People say you have to rev up the engine but it is never an option driving in cities.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality and handling are very good. The car is very stable at all speeds and you never realize the speed at which the vehicle is moving. Turning radius is small making it easy in our cities. There is one strange thing I notice though - if the road is not really really smooth (which is 95% of our roads), you get this whole feeling of sitting in a plane cockpit...there is this continuous sound of tyres running on road. I find this a bad thing.
Ground clearance is another problem in city like Bangalore where spead breakers come in all sizes. Especially when the car has 4 or 5 passengers, handling the speed breakers becomes a test of your skills.
Final Words This is an excellent car for those who are willing to pay a premium for the quality and brand perception. You can always argue that it is a waste of money but there are many things men waste their money on (spending lakhs of rupees on marriages, buying expensive phones/cameras, self driving to office daily when they can take public transport). So money is not the point her. It is about liking the car or not. To me, this is the best thing. I'm not going to compare Jazz with any other car (I20, Punto, Fabia, Swift) since I have only test driven these other cars and would be foolish for me to pass judgement on them just after driving 5 kms each.

I was delivered Jazz after six month of long wait but believe me at no point of time did I ever think of switching to any other car. Honda people discouraged me to switch to City & my friends & relatives also urged me to change cars of their choices. But I stuck to my choice & am very relieved & complacent today that I'm a proud owner of Jazz. And yes all those who discouraged me to change cars were in awe when they really saw the car for the first time. I don't blame them also as you don't get to see too many Jazz on the roads . Honda also did more harm to this brand as they are trying to promote only Brio & City for the reasons known only to them. The car is so stylish & probably the only car on the Indian road that matches the western look & what they call Jazzy. Its not sporty as some people might just say, but it is a sports car as the top speed of 220 km/hr does all the talking apart from its truly aerodynamic look which no Indian car can match in its look. And yes the car is truly a Head Turner. As far as the interior features are concerned, you just name it & it has it. Even the base model has all the features which a Top end of the other brands have. Did you say ABS or alloy wheel, or SRS bags or steering mounted music system or you just name it guys & as I said, it has it. Yes the verdict is JAZZ is trulu JAZZY.

My first mistake ( can call it a fortune too ) is too go to Honda Showroom to check the Honda Jazz, when I was shortlisting hatchback cars. I zeroed in a lot of cars including Punto, Swift, Ritz, Figo, Fabia and many more ( Diesel too ). One day it stiked me that Honda Jazz is available after the new price slash. So decided to step into Honda to check the car. Below is my overall experience of the car including Test drving.
Exterior Amazing curves, little Innova, big windshields make it look like glass house, a car which makes heads to turn about your way. Loved it ! Fell in love with the car @ first sight. The car would look great with Albaster Silver with Black tint glasses ( My own assumption !) Nothing to say more as it gives a feel of a great car which is worth to spend money on. Little shy of a sedan
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) There goes the first touch to open the door. This time I felt little disappointed with the door handlers. They were too light and made of very cheap plastics, which did not give me the pleasure of opening a Honda car. My cousin was with me and he was also very disappointed with the feel of the door handlers. Ofcourse the first impression is the best impression. Opened the door and took a comfortable seat in the cockpit and shut the door. Now the premium door shut speaks of Honda.Wow ! What an amazing cockpit. Sleek, stylish, sedan class cockpit, which no other Hatchback ( even I20 !) have it. The steering mounted control was the best I loved it. The steering was very smooth like churning butter. All the controls are within the reach. The ultimate JBL speakers hits my heart with heavy bass. But still I hear only to Heavy metal rock songs like A7X, System of a down where Bass is not important. But this music system made me feel the need of the bass effecr. Next comes the ODO and the other indicators behind the steering. Lot of options, fuel indicator, Distance to empty, Range, Instant Fuel consumption indicator. And there came the time to turn my head back to see what it has got interms of space. Space..Spaceee..Spaceeee.. ( Echo sound ! ). The space inside Jazz is also best in class in Hatchback segment. Comfortable 3 ppl seating space behind with lot of leg room. Rear recliner seat ( Not to that great extent like semi-sleeper ). And one more noticeable thing was you can throw your bottles, cans and watever stuff you may carry inside any of the 9 bottle holders and the two big glove boxes. And the comfort of the front seats hugs you and asks you more to drive.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Asked the guy to give a test drive and here we go. The biggest shame came to me when I tried to start the engine when the engine was already ON ( OMG !!! ) Cant believe the engine was on. Its Honda, the refined 1.2 iVtec speaks about itself. That was the time I boasted about Honda to my cousin. And I hit the clutch and threw the first gear. Silky smooth and felt like running your spoon across the hot butter. And the engine started to move. Felt great to move the Honda, gained little speed and there goes the second one. And here I would really like to say to all fellow readers. Dont compare a Honda engine with VDI, DDIS engines thinking that you will be thrown back when you hit 2k RPM. It's petrol engine and most important, refind Honda. It has its own class. Do not desecrate the class of Honda engine comparing with the high torque diesel engines. No offence ! The Jazz was rolling nice smooth with ample low end torque needed. As Honda Jazz is a revv-happy engine, revving is a great pleasure and also the sound of the revv hitting your ears like a bee humming in your ears.
0 - 100 kmph Acceleration : Takes quite time( Around 13 secs )
Pull Power : Enough torque to drive the engine and my fellow mates in the back seat felt the pull
Top Speed : 170 Kmph ( Assumption ! )
Driving Style : Sedate driving suits well for this car, nonetheless suits an enthusiast too
ABS + EBD : Excellent feature, loved to break more times in the city.
Overall : Very good driving in City and suits sedate drivers in the highway
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality was premium. No second thought to doubt that. Handling was great in parking speeds than @ high speeds as Honda loves to make the speed felt. The concern was about the ground clearance. Reckless drivers will hit the belly of the car @ any bumps. And needs careful attention to roll the wheels across the bumps and potholes. Not great suspension but was quite comfortable.
Final Words To put down my final words I need to make this space clear.
Sedate drivers: These drivers will love the premium, quality, silky smooth handling and steering, features and nonetheless to say the symbol of Honda ahead of their cockpit
Enthusiasts and Drive Crazies: These drivers will definitely feel the pinch when Jazz rolls on the highways. Jazz doesnot provide noticeable torque and you need to drive with great pleasure to overcome the time it takes to go beyound the 100-120 kmph curve.
Areas of improvement Honda Jazz would have been a great car, if it comes with the 1.4 variant like in rest of the other countries. However this car is designed keeping in mind the Indian roads and the mileage. And also the mileage indicator of Jazz always show 1.5 kmpl greater than the real. Don't know why it is but I some how figures it out.
Happy Miles :))))

A wonderful package to maneuver the city traffic and enough to manage all challenges thrown by Indian roads.
Best looking hatch, has style, substance and charm. Very well shaped body, evenly distributed with clean flowing body lines, every part is placed in perfect shape, Loaded to brim with many sedans put to shame ABS, EBS, Airbags, Alloy wheel, Steering mounted Music control and full information display on dash. Best part is vehicle comes loaded with Floor mats, Mud flaps. Good fuel economy, very neat and clear gear box though little low traction in 2nd gear. Great handling with ABS playing great hand but suspension is stiff for Indian roads; little softness to suspension will do wonders.
When Honda launched Jazz, there were never any doubts on looks of the car, it’s the pricing which failed the car, now with revised pricing, it has all. Looks, Style, performance, features and reliability Should improve the gear ratio in 2nd and 3rd gear.
