I am writing my views on My Dream Car – Honda Jazz……

To start with, I would like to mark that after a 6-month long investigation and TEST DRIVEs of almost all cars that include Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Chevrolet (Aveo), Toyota (Etios), Ford, Hyundai and Honda; the final tie-up was between FORD (FIGO), HYUNDAI (I20) and HONDA-JAZZ. Maruti Swift and Swift-Dezire are optimally good, but lack in shape and looks – seems like a swelled body after having police dandas from all sides…. People have also named them as MOTA-Maamu.

 

The FORD (FIGO) and HYUNDAI (I20) were at par at their performances, with Ford-Figo succeeding, considering the price tag. Hyundai-I20 is having extraordinarily high cost, for no justifiable features.

 

I took the test drive of HONDA-JAZZ and the machine “simply dragged me into its love”. I found it as the BEST & MATCHLESS vehicle. This premium hatchback provides the best of Comfort, Driving Pleasure, Safety, Style, Milage (as the feedback is-I am yet to check on this), Reliability, Service & Support and the Resale value. I am writing this after having rigorous THREE times test drives (with my friend Kamlesh) of the Honda-Jazz. Confirming its very high initial cost, the vehicle obligated me to manage for it-but at the same time I would put in words that its high cost would definitely prove best and provide the returns that none of the other cars would manage to deliver. I am eagerly waiting for the delivery of my ever shining White HONDA-JAZZ, ‘TODAY’ and then will keep updating on its performances. My whole hearted thanks are to Landmark Honda, Ahmedabad with particular mention of Mr. Arpan Soni, Bhaskar Sadhu, Maulik Patel, Mitesh Prajapati and Prashant for their efforts and well being-always, for deciding on my vehicle, and hope for their best service in the future.

 

Style, Comfort, Safety....Yet to dig-out.. ..

Honda is taking full Excise benefit with less than 4 meters length (by Cutting length by 10 Cms., by removing safety rod behind front bumper from global model of JAZZ) and below 1200 C.C. engine (Just 2 C.C. less, globally this car has 1.4 Litre engine). But passing to public ..??

Heavily "Taxing" public for brand starting with "H". Rs.7 Lakhs plus JAZZ...!! LINEA Diesel comes at this price, much bigger saloon. Even very capable LINEA Petrol comes at FULL Rs.1 Lakh less.

Recall HONDA recently reduced price of CIVIC Hybrid by Rs.9 Lakhs....what about those who bought Hybrid at Rs.20 Lakhs plus..?? Cheated.

JAZZ is powerfull only on Paper  High 90 BHP and 110 Torque come only at very high RPM i.e. at high wear-tear of engine. At 3000 RPM FIAT's FIRE engine (Palio and VISTA petrol) is much more powerful. Add to this very costly Honda spares..??

I bought Jazz Select In Jan 11 and have done 6000 km till date on the car both in the city and on the highway.To begin with I had actually gone to the showroom with the Honda City on my mind.After testing the city when I saw the Jazz for the first time in flesh and blood I decided to take her for a spin.Ihad the following requirements which the City was only Partially fulfilling-

1.Space-both boot and cabin space-U will be shocked that the Jazz looks bigger than the city from inside.Although the boot is 400L (same as verna)against 520l for the City,the volume has been measuerd till the parcel tray level.If u remove the parcel tray and use one side of the upper part of boot(which v all do in hatches when required)u get equal space from the boot.Add to it if u fold the magic seats then it can fit ur entire household!

2.Contemporary-youthful-easy to drive (even by ur not so confident spouse)

3.Performance-at par with City on the highway.For city driving it has been optimised for economy.

4.Quality,Reliability and safety features-I was once driving with a friend when i had to suddenly brake at 140kmph.My friend (who owned a desire)closed his eyes but found us absolutely compoesd and commented that Jazz ABS is way superior and that his car was sure to topple at that speed!

5.Great sounding music system-Jazz system has volume level from 1-50.u cant listen to it at 15 for more than 5 min!It beats all other factory fitted systems w/o sub woofer fitted.

6.Great aircon capable of handling indian summers.

7.Very affordable service and spares.

What the Jazz Lacks-

1.It is not a sedan-Not being a sedan can be shaan ke khilaf for most customers who merely want a sedan for jhoothi shaan.

2.Pricing-The varients are not priced cleverly.All varients have ABS,EBD,Airbags unlike the others who compromise safety for price edge.

 

Best in Class interiors,Ease of driving,RefinementThe USB varient is steeply priced

 

I purchased my Honda Jazz 5 weeks back. Car is great but it has a manufacturing defect in the petrol tank cover. All Honda Jazz in showrooms have this defect for last 5 weeks or so. I noticed it when I was taking delivery of the car and thought it would be taken care of. But it has not been so yet.

The defect: When the car is unlocked, you can open the petrol tank cover. When the car is locked, if you try to open the petrol tank cover - the cover comes out a little bit (if it doesn't, just press a little harder and it will). Now if you unlock the vehicle, the cover will be totally open. This is a serious problem. Consider someone does this to your locked vehicle and since the tank is located on the other side than the driver side, you have to go round to check it or else it will remain open like that !!!
Please help me in escalating this to Honda India.

I THINK HONDA IS REALLLY GREEDY AND THINK THAT INDIANS WILL BUY WHATEVE THROWN TO THEM AT ANY PRICE.AT THIS PRICE NOT REALLY WRTH IT.BY REDUCING THE ENGINE CAPACITY HONDA HAVE MADE SURE THAT THEY LOOT INDIAN PUBLIC.I AM REALLY DISSAPOINTED AFTER THE WAIT OF ALMOST 2 YEARS FOR THE CARS RELEASE.HELL WITH YOUR CARS HONDA .GOOD BYE........JAI HIND.THROW THIS GREEDY JAPANESE  COMPANY OUT OF INDIA GREAT STYLE,TOP NOTCH FINISHBADLY PRICED, NO AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OR PADDLE SHIFT

I feel the car is grossly overpriced for whatever it offers.. I believe abroad in other countries..thre is a 20-30% price difference between Jazz or Fit and Swift..Here it is more than 55-60%..The ride is not at all as smooth as Skoda Fabia..I will be surprised if HONDA can sell this in the volumes they desire to..The pricing smacks of either ignorance or sheer arrogance as when I went to test drive today ..till 4 pm the dealer was still unaware of the price...So all the best to Honda..and Advantage maruti swift, Skoda fabia, Fiat Punto and the likes..HONDA seems to have given away the game.. and disappointed consumers massively..Good style, good leg space for a hatchback and ok performance on Mumbai type roadsNot so great interiors

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

 i love the interiors,it's bridge-black in the base and select varients and blue black in the x varient ,space, i must say it's a very spacious car,ifu r a person who goes on long drives and all jazz is a option for them the split/folding seats are really nice its spacious and comfortable

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

 no automatic varient, milage is not that nice its

Final Words

 nice car ,if one want's a car which is spacious and has good quality jazz is one of them,their are many cars which can be compared to the jazz be sure to check them all, the cars which i also had short listed are maruti suzuki swift zxi,Dzire vxi,skoda fabia,volkswagen polo comfortline,hyundai i20 asta 1.2,hyundai and i10 Sportz 1.2 AT Kappa2

Areas of improvement  

 lacks torque,should have fog lights in the select varient

 

looks r definately the first thing,reclining seats r nice,interiors,spaceshould have front fog lamps!! it's only in the top varient (jazz x)

 

Exterior Its class !!! No other car in the hatchback segment (below 7 lacs) can match it's beauty. Anyway, it's a purely personal choice.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Nothing to comment on it as any Jazz owner can feel it. This one has best in class interiors. The quality of plastics, the color and most of the things you find inside this car is excellent. Honda, as usual never compromise on quality ! You pay little extra and thats what you get.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The only concern here is the low pick-up below 2000rpm. But, as soon as you cross the 2000rpm barrier, it's a charm to drive. Since, I was driving a Santro before this, the low pick-up didn't bother me much as it's much better than Santro 😊. The Fuel economy as shown in the pannel is ~16Km per Lt with AC (all time) in city driving (Navi mumbai and mumbai). But, its not correct. From full tank to full tank calculation, it shows 14 kmpl. Nevertheless, it's OK for me. Gearbox is the smoothest.

Ride Quality & Handling Amaging ride quality. Very easy to drive, it's easier to handle in heavy trafic condition. Very responsive steering, brake and the ABS is excellent. Once, I had to apply sudden brake while driving ~ 70Km/h speed. It was so smooth and I didn't feel that it was a sudden brake. The ABS and EBD is execptional. Like to thank the Honda team for this.

Final Words Just go for it. It's probably the best car in this price range. Don't think, any other car can match it considering all the aspects.

Areas of improvement The pannel should display the true fuel economy. It's not that difficult challange for the Honda engg. guess!

Drive, comfort, fuel economy, interiors and the overall packagetrying to find one !!!

Researched extensively over the internet in many ways looking at petrol and diesel prices where petrol is a concern but still, I decided to go with it. 

I was looking for a second car for me the other one I had previously Hyundai I10 Asta. Shortlisted Honda City, Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai I20 Diesel. The priorities got changed after looking and having a test drive for Honda Jazz. If anyone is looking for a real quality product in petrol variant then close your eyes and go for it.

I booked the vehicle in middle June 2012 and within 15 days from Pride Honda Madhapur-Hyderabad, this beautiful car was delivered on June 29th, 2012 without any of the issues.

Exterior Honda Jazz - It really looks big so I can say that YES 100% one of the real and quality level premium hatchback sedan. Exterior design is futuristic and will stay for another couple of years.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Dashboard is very beautiful. Three adults can accommodate comfortably in the rear seat without having any issues with enough legroom. Enough space for tons of baggage in boot area too. Equipped with all of the other necessary and essential features with excellent powerful A/C, Audio System. Jazz X [MT] loaded with height adjustment feature for driver seat adjustment which gives excellent feeling of drive.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox 90BHP classic in its own, Buttery Smooth Gear box. Drove in Begumpet-Hyderabad area in peak traffic hours. Mostly in 2nd Gear and 3rd Gear, Mileage as shown is 14.7 kilometer per liter into the display panel.

Ride Quality & Handling HONDA Engineering means, Excellent ride quality. No question arises.

Final Words A perfect and premium family hatchback sedan car equipped with all of the features required. I do not know what people are expecting more. It is truly a premium hatchback sedan loaded with all essential features.

Areas of improvement Diesel variant helps HONDA alot in India.
