Honda City [2011-2014] User Reviews

First time purchased this New  Honda City Smt model. Its superb car out of the world. Drove it from Chandigarh to New Delhi after purchase, in about 4 hrs (inspite of traffics) managed to reached New Delhi.The best part was that no restriction of slow driving ( i.e. initially for first 500 km etc,) touched speed of 140-150 Kmph on highways, it was dream come true while driving this car after my Maruti, which was earlier my passion. I could have touched even more than 150 Kmph but remained in limits due first time driving. Earlier the cars drove by me was Fiat/ premier padmini from 1978-1994, then shifted to Maruti esteem during 1994-2009 till purchased this real thunder the stylish New Honda City SMT of my life. For city roads no other car can match this new version of Honda City. I have been getting average of over 18 kmpl in city, over 20 kmpl on highways. Even with Ac the average never comes down below 16kmpl in city roads. Took this car through CSD and delivery from Chandigarh.My family is also extreamely satisfied with my choice, infact it was joint selection. Drove all cars as test drive from Maruti SX4, Swift D'zire, Indigo cs, Mahindra Renault, Ford IKOn but when it came to our final choice it was unanimous decession for Honda. Comfort on back seat, front room space, clear view of front and rear.Excellant A/C, soundless engine and perfect body. good average and superb pick up and engine performance. These are my true and frank opinion not for any promotion etc but to guide those who may be confused in deciding what to buy, or which is better. my this chice took 30-45 days in finally deciding. Beleave me it's Value for money in long run and the car is as such having latest technology and state of Art.Either wait for your money if you fall short but go far only Honda city. It's not only different but truelly Amaging and perfect combination of Art and Technology. Have you ever seen Honda city on road side with break down etc.??? Kabhi nahin Paaoge....Why you thing I am going so crazy and writting like this, beleave me it's from my heart. My best wishes to Manufacturers and R&D dept of Honda City.

The exterior looks are just mind blowing. I am not obsessed with my car, but I can tell you from the experience I’ve had during the last  month. Everytime the car is on the road, people just keep oogling at it !! interior are nice, The integrated Audio System is just amazing and to add to that the audio control in the steering. The space in the cabin is enough - both in the front and in the back. Infact, its better than any of the cars in the segment. The boot is big enough to carry 4 huge bags. The space is designed intelligently to fit in the bags easily.

The drive is very smooth. I can’t even hear the engine sound . Infact, while waiting on the red-lights I’ve turned on the ignition key accidentally a couple of time thinking that the engine is turned off. And mileage is amezing, no other car will match this.

Good style. Fuel mileage is great, Very spacious both front & rare.

I have been driving this car since february now. The car has its flaws like it doesnt have climate control AC, allloys, leather etc etc. But hey! if you like your cars like its a member of your family you will know what I am talking about. Who doesnt have flaws..but the things that it misses is something most can do without. But the things that it has is beyond what the competition offers in terms of quality. The engine is the best in the segment. It can excite you if you want..or drive at a cost of Santro. The seats are so comfortable that even after driving for 450 kms in a day I didnt feel like I have done so much. The music system has one of the bet amps I have heard in a car. Dont buy a CD system, convert music to your ipod and you are good to go. The breaks are great. To sum it up it has its flaws but nothing that will hurt you if you buy one.. but the strengths are those that will make you fall in love with it. One last thing..lot of people talk about fit and finish..compare it to competition back to back and show me a cleaner and better finished car in the same segment. Good fuel economy, Good style, Comfortable seats, amazing driveLess features

Exterior There is no doubt that this car is sure to draw attention. Everytime you see one of them, you cannot stop passing your eyes over it in admiration. The build and finish are top class, as expected of a honda. The plastics are also of high quality on the outside.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Clearly the highlight is the comfort. A little drawback is the lack of adequate headroom but the adjustable seat height can get you a decent driving position. THe center arm rest could have been longer which means your left arm could rest and shift gears as well.

The interior quality is very good however the overall feel inside is not as worthy of a car at this price. Honda must improve the interior feel to make it classier. The rear seat comfort is amazing and added to that a little space below the seat to store small items is very thoughtful.

However- lacks enough cup holder and bottle holders, maybe like the jazz, they could have added a few practicalities. Missing also is the sun glass holder and vanity mirror!

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The reason why honda charges the premium lies under the bonnet. The engine of a honda is where the difference lies. What a silent and smooth ride. Gear box is slick and easy to handle, gears slot in easily. A small note- maybe for a few minutes post start, slotting into 1st and 2nd (back from 3rd) is a little stiff which eases up later.

THe car is to be driven with ease, and meant to give you a comfortable run, if you rev it up( which it will not resist at all!)then surely the FE suffers but unlike other sedans it will not fall drastically. I have been getting 13 in city traffic and max speed of about 80.

Ride Quality & Handling The car is clearly a city car and with the stock tyres one can go upto 100 but not more without losing confidence. Ride comfort is great though a tad bouncy ride at the rear seat. The GC is less and one needs to be careful when going over large bumps and with fully seated. However its not that much of a pain as many suggest, just be careful thats all.

Final Words I can see many folks cry out aloud on the cars pricing and why its so costly etc. I think its not at all a valid argument as the value lies within, like its tag line" the race lies within". The value is in the engineering which a normal buyer cannot see. What you get is Years of reliability, a strong heart( engine) and honda premium value. One has to pay a little more to get more. I have driven the other sedans and they do not come close to it on all aspects. I had a verna XXI and doing a comparison i feel that if the city was 50-75K lesser, it will just kill the competition totally, but then its only our wish! With airbags and ABS as standard, you get added safety features in all variants.

Bottom line, if someone can afford paying that lac and a half more over the linea/sx4/verna, its worth it. Though we all wish it were 1 lac lesser, if it indeed came down, there will be long waiting periods for it;)

Areas of improvement Give better interiors and SURELY add ACC, Add alloys to all variants.

Looks, Drive comfort, space, engine refinementinteriors class, lack of features

 

Exterior STYLING IS VERY GOOD, IT HAS GOOD VISIBILITY EVEN WHILE REVERSING.UNLIKE OTHER SEDANS.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) INTERIORS ARE A LITTLE LITE IN COLOR, MAY GET DIRTY OVER A PERIOD. OTHERWISE NICE. SEATS ARE COMFORTABLE. LEG SPACE IS GOOD.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox ENGINE PERFORMANCE IS GREAT. HAS GOT GREAT PICK UP AND PUNCH. HONDA IS NOT CONSIDERED TO BE A RACING CAR. SO DONT EXPECT SO MUCH. BUT IS VERY NICE. GEARBOX IS NOT UPTO THE MARK. NOT SO SMOOTH.

 

Ride Quality & Handling RIDE QUALITY AND HANDLING IS THE BEST IN ITS CLASS. VERY VERY SMOOTH AND HANDLING THIS BEAUTY IS VERY EASY.

 

Final Words GO FOR CITY. DONT THINK TWICE. I HAVE SURVEYED ALMOST ALL THE SEDANS. PREVIOUSLY HAD FORD IKON 1.6 ZXI. AND HAVE SEEN ALL THE MODELS OF OTHER CARS. IF U WANT COMFORT AND STATUS. AND GOOD RIDE QUALITY. GO FOR IT.

 

Areas of improvement ITS GEARBOX. NOT SO SMOOTH AS IT SHOULD BE. AND SHOULD HAVE CLIMATE CONTROL AC. IT SHOULD HAVE A DVD PLAYER.

Exterior Looks great, I think the best in its segment,but looks is a very subjective matter.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Comfortable,good quality interiors.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Delayed acceleration after pushing the accelerator,as if a knock on the head,hey accelerate,i am pushing the pedal! , drove a automatic,which is a dream after driving geared ones,very good for high traffic conditions,liked the manual pedal shifts to accelerate suddenly,no noise inside cabin,but the side body which holds the windshield blinds the traffic from the front sides,its too thick,fuel economy was bad about 10.5kmpl in the test drive,good technical features.

Ride Quality & Handling Handles well,rear suspension is bad, passenger can feel the thuds,otherwise no problem.

Final Words Well I test drove the etios after city,trying linea soon,lets see. honda is honda. A good car indeed, want to try something different so test driving all vehicles under the 10 lac segment. But otherwise go for it if you dont want to run around much. buy it.

Areas of improvement hmmm. Rear suspension,mileage,crisper accelerator response, horn position on steering.

Exterior The Exteriors are very well designed with body coloured mirrors and Bumpers.The 400+  litre boot will take care of all the luggage, where the people are comfortable in the car.The low boot will give the driver a clear back view.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The Beige coloured Interiors are plush with a fantastic dashboard at the front.The Audio has a USB connect feature where you can just plug and play your favourite songs.The front dispay will warn of everything from car being locked with lights on to forgeting the keys inside. The passenger seats are very comfortable with middle armrest and bottle holders.Seated inside you are sure to be unaware of the external road conditions and have a comfortable nap.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The pickup is excellent as you can touch 50kmph in approx 3 secs and are sure to race ahead when needed. The 5 gear transmission is excellent with the car going steady at 65kmph only in 3rd Gear. I have drove at max speed of 115kmph but can assure that car can accelerate at 150+ when required  without any turbulunce. The ABS dont let the tyres to skid and maintain balance, The Elec Power steering lets you manouver the car through the sharp turns without much trouble.

Final Words Though the price is bit on higher side at first look, the car becomes a pleasure to drive after you become conversant with it. I would undoubtedly recommend Honda City to any one who has any doubts.

I have bought Honda city (VMT) Sep11, Drove 8000km. This includes long trip Mumbai to Dwarka, Okha, Sasan Gir and Belgaum.

Exterior Good Styling. Mirror should be provided with turn indicators. Smoked alloy wheels shall enhance the exterior styling.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Ample of rear sitting space, powerful AC. Seats are very comformtable, with full support to back. The Music system is very well placed. Only need volume upto to level 5 or 6 (Max is 25) to hear clear sound. Tweeters place in door give excellent sound effect. The overall ambience inside is very good.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Excellent performance, you can switch to 5th gear when the speedometer click 50km./hr. This is due to better torque. The engine very compact 1499cc for a power of 116hp as compared other manufacturers. When you drive in 1st gear, need to be careful as suddenly the engine rpm drops below 1000 rpm, but you never know the engine is still on. Thanks to the ivtec technology. I have received fuel economy of 14.4kmpl for long drive. City driving is apprx 12-13kmpl. On trip meter a range display appears 0-20-40 indicating fuel being consumed. Owner can use this as guide to increase fuel economy, try to be in the range near to 20. Gear change is smooth.

Ride Quality & Handling The suspension are hard and can tough roads easily. Cornering is well handled. The car quite stable. I driven max speed 157Km/hr. The car can be controlled without any hassale.

Final Words Overall very good car as compared to other models. Reliability of Honda is very high. I would suggest this car.

Areas of improvement This is a city car. Ground clearance is one the areas for improvement, you never know when your car will touch down.

Styling, Design, ComfortGround Clearance

Exterior Eye catching specially the carnelian red one.More appealing than civic if stands side by side(It happened at show room when my wife did not give a 2nd thought while booking).Addition of chrome is giving it a good contrast.Of course the tail lights and turn indicators on OVRM are making it more elegant and head turner.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Dash board with chrome inserts making it more attractive, even more so at night time. Eco lamp,air con and steering wheel audio control are quite useful. Leg rooms are generous both for front and back seaters. Quality of leather seats are good and also comfortable. Sun roof in a mid size segment is really exciting. Sound system is better than some other C-segment cars which I took test drive.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Pick up is good.Performance has no doubt and tha car has sufficient power to move and  also pulling capacity is not disappointing even though it is not diesel.Engine is not noisy even at high speeds.Gear box is fitting well for city driving.

Ride Quality & Handling Quite satisfactory and one can handle this car at ease.The access to my residence has two right angled turnings on a 12 feet lane  and also the entrance which is 10 feet wide but I am enjoying the turning radius of the car.No difficulty at all.

Final Words Good petrol midsizer and worth buying it.

Areas of improvement  Reverse camera needs to be a standard feature in top end variant.Also  an inbuilt navigation screen is expected by most customers.

Still a head turner ,eco lamp is value added feature and virtual no engine sound when it is stoppedcruise control is of no use for city drivers with occasional highway driving
