I have bought the car 3 months back the 1.5 SMT manul. after driving most other cars. compared to others yes honda is over priced for a reason. if u owned a honda you would understand.its a silky smooth drive don't be fooled by most poorly maintained test drive cars an form u r opinon based on the same.i suggest you drive the new jazz to get a feel of the city
Mileage:
it gives a 10-11 in city.
Highway driving at 80km/hr --> 19-20 km/liter
Highway.at 100-120km/hr--> 16 to 18/liter
My only dislike in the car is the poor visibility i can't see the rear or the front bonnet which makes it difficult to drive in traffic even with sensors to reverse its the same or worse.
Power wise the car gives superb acceleration once u reach 5,000 rpm the engine wakes up.remember this car is 75% of a civic and would be a sec slower than it. refer to the Autocar september editon on the race track the city is jut 1 second slower than the civic on lap timing 2M18.15sec vs 2M 17.9sec on a civic driving on sriperumbudur race track driven by Narain Karthikeyan.you can keep up with a corolla and overtake easy from my experience.Gear shift so extremley precise and needs just a finger to slot into next gear
Else no complaints what so ever.the center is console designed in such a way that the OEM Audio headunit provided by honda cannot be replaced without changing the center console panel which costs 13,000 rs from honda(grey market non honda panels start at 7,000rs).for the average person yes the audio unit is good enough with usb mp3 playback.however if you are an audio nut or enthusuast well u would need to replace the console silver panel in case u want to add a subwoofer/pioneer headunit to the car. the Oem headunnit has no preout and is actually made by mitsubushi.
Quality of a/c knobs is poor but its not an issue cos it is not going to break or fall apart it is similar to the knobs u can find it the old 1 st Gen honda city which my parents still own the knobs are almost the same and work exactly as they did the day the car was bought 10 yrs back. but the new city has an rotary automatic climate control i think.the issue is more like the knobs could have been better for a car that cost almost 10 Lakhs.compared to an
Speakers cannot be fixed on the rear parcel tray only round speakers coaxial or Component 6.5 inch can be fixed on the four doors if u want to replace the stock honda speakers.
this reveiw is after i have bought and driven the car unlike most other job less people who trash the car after a test drive.of course compared to the linea any day any place honda. own one to understand that
Ground clearance is NOT an issue but not to the extent made out.only if the speed breaker is too high the car may scrape. in 3 months it has happeneed twice.but when the height was too much and i knew it would have happened. when i say scrape it hits the bottom of the bumper which doesn't damage the car in any way.remeber this isn't a civic which has far lower ground clearnce so this can't be an issue unless u r careless with the car. i drive in chennai & it has its fair share of potholes..you can get past most cases by turning the car left or right as you go over the hump
i have upgraded the tyres(Michelin primacy) as sooon as i got the car so maybe that helped.while u buy the car pls ask the exec to get you a car with michelin energy tyres as they are better than the mrf even higher value the sales exe will tell u they can't change the tyres it comes with the car just be firm.on returning an mrf 1,700rs pertyre michelin 2,500 rs per tyre on return. new michelin prmacy tyres cost 5,500 rs per tyre.if u want to change them after purchase..
i would recommend changing tyres as most magazines show this car has skinny tyres.
Update:
i'm 5.10 yes i can't see the bonnet neither the rear even with the height adjustment at max.even straining ur neck is of no use. it s an issue if u think it is else you may get used to it later.by so called getting an estimate of the positon of the bumper(honda exec sales talk u 'll be able to estimate and drive by onoe week BLAH). that may not always be accurate.i can't turn or reverse like i used to requires a little more time caution and estimation.maybe u 'd get used to it.personally i prefer my suv in heavy traffic.when there is light traffic i'd love to take the honda out.as a mechanic put it u need to get used to driving with 5 feet gap in front. try not to cut in change lanes as often as u can't see the bumper.or get whacked by an auto or 2 wheeler u feels like cutting in ur way seeing ur cute car lol.
SENSORS fixing a sensor with them well be carefull (i used a 6 sensors)when its fixed in font bumper if its fixed at the curve it will show the distance at the bumper corner not the distance between the car in front and your bumper.and if u can get a switch fixed to turn it off a stand alone switch which can be fixed near the right side of the steering wheel so u can turn the front sensor off convinently else its going to sqwak every time something stops with 1 feet of either side of the bumber corners. whch can get irrtitating. they will tell u there is a switch on the mirror display.be persistent and get a seperate switch
Delivery:was supposed to get my car at 5 pm the dealer conveneintly delayed the delivery stating accessories fittting etc sun control till 630pm. finally got the car after auspicous time passed. car was waxed and polished so and i could not make out scratches in the dark on the car that became visible later after few weeks the wax tends to go away with wiping..

I purchased this car 3months back.Till now i have not been disappointed.I bought the smt model which is the middle variant.it looks best in white. I shortlisted 4 sedans-verna,sx4,city and linea This car is expensive than others but there is a reason for that.It has amazing pickup.when u sit in this car it feels that u r sitting in a civic. They share the same steering wheel.
BTW this car costs 9.5 lk n civic costs 13.75. this car is exp than other 3 sedans bt is still cheaper than corolla altis.it has more features than altis My budget was 10 lk. first option was sx4 but i stayed away because of its odd looks and poor interior. second option was hyundai verna. but it looks very small and does not feel exp from inside.also it has no road presence. Third option was fiat linea. i was confused bw city and linea until i test drove the linea.the ride quality ws pathetic.also the dealer network is nt gud.the spare parts are very costly.
So I chose city because of its reliability(coz i also own city zx),ride quality, spacious interior and it has been a wise decision n i m very satisfied with this car.
However the only neg thing abt the car is that if u keep a bottle in the boot u can hear the noise in the cabin.

Overdrive magazine of November carries comparison test between SX4 and new City.In this ,the cars are having similar performance and fuel economy figures.SX4 is better in braking.
Autocar test for the new City is misleading and is assuming a vital data on fuel economy. How come they have not done this test. This is a bungling by Autocar. The new City is fully deloaded car

After waiting for long today I have seen the new honda city at Ring Road Honda,Gurgaon. The exterior of the car is good enough to buy the car but interior of the car is not at all matching the honda status. It gives the feeling of far lower segment car's interior. Wood and chrome has not been used at all. Fabric and plastic is of low quality in comparision to last version of honda city. In the middle of car the platform rises suddenly so putting foot is little uncomfotable while siting at the rear. May the sound quality of music will go down as all the 4 speakers are in windows. In comparion to the old honda city has rear 2 speaker are at the back. Overall dissappointed.
Somebody has very correctly used the Title "Honda Logan". As performance may be good but there is alot of cost cutting in the interior.
It seems honda is keeping a lot for next version.

Feature to feature SX4 beats it at much lower price- no audio system is a definite let down
Iwould have expected Honda to have priced it at the same level as SX4 if not lower since they now have a fully depreciated plant in India
With the higher cost of spares and service as compared to Maruti it appears they are smiling all the way to the bank at the poor customers cost

Test drove NHC 2008 last week, my reaction at the end of the test drive was "not inspiring and average pickup". Since the test vehicle was not registered the dealer did not allow me to take test drive for longer. I wasnt really impressed with the test drive, the zippy feeling i get out of my Swift is missing in this car. One good thing though is i was really impressed by the ultra smooth steering and clutch ply.
I was comparing the City ZX VTEC+ with the NHC 2008. ZX Vtec is fully loaded (Airbag, ABS, Alloys, 2DIN MP3 player, Optritron combi meter, fog lamps and beautiful interiors) and it costs the same as NHC2008 1.5S MT. The engine used in both the version is the same, why then Honda is offering NHC2008 with such huge price and still not offering the goodies offered in ZX VTEC?
One other thing, Just look how the dashboard laid out in ZX VTec. You can really feel the richness when you get inside the ZX VTEC. I am not getting that feeling in the NHC 2008. A closer look at the aircon switches in both these version will reveal the truth. I guess the TATA designers would have done a better job in putting together the instrument cluster than the Honda designers.
NHC 2008 is no where close to SX4, i really wasted 4 months in waiting for this NHC hoping that it will be step above SX4. After seeing NHC2008 i've narrowed my choice to SX4.

With all enthusiasm, wife and I landed up at the showroom cause I simple loved the looks and the technical configuration. The brochure impressed us. Least expected the rude shock when we went to see the demo vehicle.
Styling was good from the outside, the insides were a complete dissappointment especially given the standards they set in the old City. The interior non-beige upholstery is a real damp squib. The silver paneling with the black AC knobs reminds me of the Indica!
Then the supposed advanced audio. My take on it, "Pretty sad!". Would rather have a CD slot cause most systems today have Ipod/USB slots along with the player.
Finally, no alloy wheel option is a killer! No clue what's the thinking.
Clearly, they did an excellent job of the shape and the engine is a winner if it delivers what they claim in power and mileage. BAD IDEA to have tinkered with the interiors and try creative stunts. Now my hope for owning the new City pins on the revised 2009 version! Hope my friends at Honda are listening!

Exterior
Well built the arrow throw design, with new front chrome grill, integrated rear bumper line with reflectors, new tail lamps, side mirrors with indicators
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
The blue illuminated console really adds a rich quality to the console and some chrome in dash finally give an essence of quality, honda is only for the quality that is why we opt honda, though featrure are less than verna fluidic but go n check the quality of other segments that is why its too pricey, the 10 lakh cost is not meant for the logo of honda , They really provide the good quality of material as compare to other cars like verna, vento, skoda rapid n others.
Apart from this what i like is the cruise control and the eco meter which sometime force you to drive in economy. so, with the cruise control what you all need to do is shift to the 5th gear and just set the cruise control at 55 the eco light will glow n everything is now just in the hand of the cruise chip, I have used the cruise control only to set the speed at which eco light glow for the longer time coz its little difficult to maintain eco ride manually( I mean with your foot). I am getting 18 km/l in the city drive with ac blower set to 1.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Though i have driven 200km ,engine is really awesome it delivers 100 percent of power there is no turbo lag at all but I have not force the accelerator paddle above 2000 rpm-22000rpm eagerly waiting to cross the rpm and want to see how the engine rev
The second gear is quite hard or sometime it feels like jaming while shifting from 3, 4 and 5th, I think its the problem in every anhc this I felt during the test run of the dealer vehicle but thats not a big issue
fuel economy is good waiting to drive on highway in city I am getting 18.1km/l.
Ride Quality & Handling
Ride quality is good and handling is superb stearing response is well in all speed condition than verna fluidic though i didn't like the bumps they really feel inside the cabin like in maruti 800.
😦
Final Words
Awesome to drive engine is so smooth sometimes you really dont feel that engine is turned on, trust me you have to see the ignition lights if it stalls or you are confused that engine is off or on great car to drive😎
Areas of improvement
ground clearence, and shock absorber rest is fine
The gem i-vtech engine, music sytem, cruise control, average, AClow ground clearance, bumps are felt inside, no ACC
