Bought it in 2018 as soon as it was launched. Buying experience (from Capital Honda, Meenambakkam, Chennai) was ok; nothing much to complain or praise about.
Speaking of driving experience, being an automatic car, driving it in everyday city traffic is extremely easy, effortless and convenient (you can add as many synonymous words as possible-ha ha). Steering is effortless while being communicative at the same time. Acceleration and braking are excellent (many drivers also confirmed this). You always feel that the car obeys your orders perfectly. But, on the other hand, being a CVT, the noisy rubber-band effect is very obvious especially when trying for quick overtakes. This is a fair concern while overtaking in two-lane roads. When you are a gentle driver, driving at cruising speeds, you will truly enjoy and appreciate the ride and driving experience in this car and will definitely come out with a big smile on your face. When you hard press on the accelerator, pleasure will turn into pressure on the car.
Regarding looks, the car looks premium (golden brown metallic); at a glance, looks like a proper sedan instead of a compact sedan. Everyone in my apartments expressed great impressions and many of them expressed interest to buy it purely for the looks (some bought it later on). Long and high bonnet and good ground clearance are surely USPs (unique selling points) for this car.
I am happy about the fuel efficiency of this car: 10-12 in the city and 15-16 in the highways (as per my driving style). For a 1200 cc engine and automatic car, I don't expect much.
Had driven around 4000 kms and completed 2 free services so far. No major complaints so far with regard to car maintenance or service center. But, it's just 1 year over and is yet to be seen in the long run.
Speaking of the cons, at the time of my buying, 2 important features were missing in all the CVT variants: reverse camera and touch screen infotainment system. I compensated this with 3rd party accessories. But Honda listens to its customers and has cleverly addressed it by introducing a variant recently with these 2 features I believe. Another negative is, only one-touch down for driver-side window is available. If one-touch up is also there, then it will be really good. We cannot call rubber-band effect as a negative point because it is the nature of CVT and I bought it while knowing about this already.
Other than this, not much negatives I can think of.
In summary, I am a proud and happy owner of my Honda Amaze 1.2 S CVT.
