Honda Amaze remains true to the Honda's legacy of being a reliable and frugal car. From the buying experience to regular servicing, the dealership offers a decent experience with well trained staff answering all your questions patiently. After purchase and after servicing - you get a call from Honda directly enquiring about the experience with the dealer and It seems to keep the dealers on their toes as well. Scoring the dealer a 9 out of 10 also has the dealership calling you frantically if anything went wrong. Honda's iVTec petrol engines are legendary and are known for its refinement. In the Amaze, the engine lets you go up to 140 Kmph with 2 to 3 people on board. When you have 5 passengers and a full boot of luggage - you will find yourself struggling to reach 120 Kmph. This kind of engine tune has its benefits - you can get 15 Kmpl of mileage even when you push the engine hard. If you maintain 80-100 Kmph- you can even get 18 Kmpl. But be careful when driving at high speeds - the brakes are a big let down. The S iVTec has no ABS and chances are you'll skid and slide trying to brake hard even while cruising at 80 Kmph. The cars is quite comfortable for city as well as long drives. The seating posture and leg space are similar (or in some cases better) than cars from one segment above. The Japanese cars differ in quality from their European counterparts mainly on the build quality. The cars are lighter and so have better fuel efficiency, but the noise while slamming a door shut, or the tinny sound inside the cabin when in a rain are not confidence inspiring. There are many small compromises that Honda seems to have made to keep the costs low: 1. The wind shield is not heat deflecting. So half an hour in the sun, and the car is like an oven and takes an hour or more to cool down. 2. The electricals are flimsy. My reading light switch has loose contact in a year, the headlight stopped working in 3 years. 3. The small fuel tank (35L) means you will visit the fuel station more often 4. The Music player only supports USB Drive of 32 GB Capacity. 5. The aircon seems inefficient when parked in Sun 6. The noise deadening is not that great Inspite of these downsides, Honda Amaze is still value for money! Go for it, if you are looking for a car under 8 Lakhs.
