    I purchased a Toyota Liva one and a half year back and On 20th of December 2013, the front tires of my car(LIVA) suffered a puncture, I had to rush some where in a hurry so I asked the guy fixing it to fit in the stepny. This was for the first time I was going to use the spare tire and to my surprise and shock, the’new tire’ was actually a bald tire whose sides had been cleaned and polished to give it the appearance of a new tire .(If you ever glance at the stepny in the rear you get to see the side view only).

     

    "How could this be possible"? No one touches my car except people in Uttam - Toyota(service centre) and the only other service centre my car visited was MGF-Toyota in Gurgaon. My first suspicion was on MGF Toyota as 

    1. The manager there was dis-honest as he had asked me for Rs.4000 for my insurance claims when all I needed to pay was Rs. 1000 as it was a zero debt policy. 

    2. My car stayed at MGF Toyota for a month and when I took it for regular service to Uttam Toyota, on inspection they told me that the Rear bumper seals are missing! 

    Those seals cost me Rs.1200, I made this mistake of not raising this issue with Toyota people as I was not bothered much about it as I thought it could have been a genuine mistake.

     

    That’s only a suspicion, my spare tire might have been replaced at Uttam Toyota as well, as My car goes there only for any kind of jobs.

     

    There are only 3 possibilities 

    1. MGF Toyota did this 

    2. Uttam Toyota did this 

    3. Toyota company gave a old tire instead of a new one.

     

    This is one part of the story. 

    The second part is even worse, I mailed my grievance to Toyota and backed it up wit a call to the customer care number. They asked me to wait for 24-48 hours and assured me that my problem will be solved. Its been more then 2 weeks now, and I have called them up so many times and every time they say they will escalate the issue. I asked them to reply to my mail, they did not do that. One day I got a call from MGF - Toyota and the person on the other side of the call said that the issue is old n all and disconnected the call without listening to me! 

    Uttam - Toyota went a step further, they called me to the service centre, photographed the tires and concluded that, YES, the spare tire is from a different car and then he said that he cannot do any thing about it though. 

    I asked him why the hell did he call me to the service centre and did the drama of clicking photographs? I asked him to reply me in writing by mail which he promised He will do but till date has not. 

    I asked me where is the corporate office of Toyota in Delhi and he said - he has no idea about it, he also does not possess any idea about who is the owner of the service centre!

     

    So this is the story as it stands today! 

    When people asked me why I bought a LIVA when by throwing in a more 20-30K bucks I could have had a swift! 

    My answer was simple, swift is not TOYOTA! I being a total car illiterate wanted a service in which I need not worry about any thing but the payments and Toyota being so committed to customer service fitted my bill. After 1.5 years I have learned the truth the hard way.

     

    FOR me Toyota is the worst company when it comes to customer care. 

    Crestfallen would be a mild word to describe my situation. I would suggest everyone planning to buy a toyota car .PLEASE DONT BUY! 

    and If you are an owner, PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPARE TIRE AND OTHER SPARE PARTS, they might have been stolen by mighty TOYOTA.
