      On last sunday(16-Jan-2011) I went to take test drive of Etios, at Uttam Toyota, Patparganj. Before that moment Etios was my dream car but it was the heart broken experience. Now I have doubt if Etios is designed and developed by Toyota itself or was it outsource :-).


      1) First thing you will notice when you start the car, a NOISE which is very much and it gives you a itch in your ear drum if it is a diesel car Noise in petrol car engine????.. I have Spark right now with me and let me tell you I am comparing with same.

      When I asked to executive there about same, he replied."Sir isko sporty look dene k liye engine main noise rakhi hai" (Sir to give a sporty look Toyota has made engine noisy)... WOW...


      2) Bad interiors: Come on Toyota it was not your standard. Plastic and Plastic and Plastic. You are the world renowned company.

      While driving car, it was good,very balance and smooth(apart from engine noise) how ever I would still say this car does not make the standard in market... People who are comparing with Tata Manza or Dzire(because of price bracket) they should compare with Mahindra Logan first because as per me this car better then Logan but don't even touch the standard of Manza and Dzire...


      It is my personal experience and I would encourage you to make your own and don't go by these bull shit news paper/TV reviews because their only duty to selling the product and getting the advertisements back :-).


      Good fuel economy# yes.Bad interiors . Very average. Nano like interiors

      Exterior Great,appealing rear. The design is good,and it has cute exteriors.The 15-inch,1-spoke alloys look sporty but the single wiper is a shame to the Dzire,Logan,Manza,Ikon and the Verna and Fiesta. 

       

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Amazing.Even the beige in Manza and Verna cannot beat the fleshy red fabric in seats.Audio controls in steering,red gear knob,red fabric in seats and the cooled glovebox in all variants of the new Etios(Even the J variant with no power steering!).The big 595-litre boot is bigger than the Corolla and Camry 's boot!Fixed headrests everywhere,rear seats remind of the Honda City when the front seats remind of the i10,A-Star,XC60 and the Santro.Rear and front seats are comfortable.

       

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox 1.5 litres remind of the Honda City;the 90PS power of the Fiat Linea.However,the FE can be mentioned and the gear is good.

       

      Ride Quality & Handling Ride can beat Linea!!!Handling can beat the i10 Kappa2 VTVT.

       

      Final Words Best car.The Value For Money Factor.

       

      Areas of improvement Single Wiper.

      Exterior Look ok, I wanted to buy a sedan so thought Toyota wil provide me good thing. I was not knowing driving before my car purchase and that was the worst decision I made. THis is totally pathetic, worst thing, I bought this car and u can come to my place to see this car. I will offere u the test drive, its worst product. All my money gone waste.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Worst, cheaper than Indica.

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is good, here I mean dirving. Fule economy is good. Gearbox is very good but engine noise is too much, it seems u r driving a second hand diesel car, it makes that much noise, u can easliy feel this. Before I bought this piece of garbage I rided couple of petrol cars, they were so silent and good and all my dream was lost when i took this car. Whenever i am riding this, I feel so uncomfortable, I want to just throw away.

      Ride Quality & Handling Handling is easy but vibration is so much that u will be stressed after 10 KM drive.

      Final Words I am a midle class person, collected my hard earned money to buy a sedan  and I didnt know driving before i bought this and after buying this I learnt driving. Now after 10 days of driving I am stressed with the engine noise, vibration and pathetic horn.

      Please dont ever think to buy this car, If you want you can come to my residence I will show you my car ETIOS G, I have just travelled for 300 Km and my heart is borken because all my hard earned money gone waste with this toyota product.

      When I first tested this car the first thing which came into my mind is "Wow What a Machine". I have tested V X and own V version. Let me review one by one, Performance is absolutely staggering in its class and segment. Performance is better than Swift Dz ire and Logan, to be precise its 89.7bhp.
      Come-on people why you all are saying its a bad design? Toyota has  not given aggressive look, that doesn't mean its bad looking... Right! Its a decent looking SMILING Car. Its an excellent rid ability and Handling is awesome. Cornering is also good. I am sure, person who drives it will fall in love with this car. It Has acres of space, complete house can be shifted into it. Good head room, Leg room and spacious passenger cabin. Healthy 5 persons can easily sit. Boot space is massive 595 liters. Dimensions are bit more in all the aspect including the ground clearance. Coming to fuel efficiency, secret is its light weight body which gives 18 kms in highway and comfortably 15kms in city.
      "Toyota" name its self suggests Quality & Reliability.

      Even though there were offers like corporate discounts in ford, Hyundai, mahindra, maruti, tata. I preferred TOYOTA. Trust me, its a value for money. Buy it, not because it is Toyota but because of its unending advantages.
      Few advantages I will mention.
      1.  Body colored bumpers.
      2.  Tubeless tyres. (15" Alloy Wheels)
      3.  Engine Immobilizer..
      4.  13 litre bottle capacity cooler.
      5.  7 bottle holders.
      6 . Front door pockets.
      7.  Remote Fuel Lid Opener.
      8.  Digital trip meter.
      9.  Internally adjustable ORVM.
      10. Remote Tailgate Opener.
       
      The only drawback is its waiting period. But, Its worth waiting.

      Go guys... Drive it to believe it.

      Exterior Great, stylish.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) I think GD is not worth buying buy VD or VXD, they both have good features . It has great boot space I fit 2 large suitcase and 3 small 25inch suitcases. And even in-cabin space is also great it can fit 4 people avg size on back seat easly. And due to flat cabin at back one can ask his child to sleep their.

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Fuel Economy is great I am getting 22 on Highway and 21 in city half on expressway half in city. I drove between 80-90 KMPH and its gives me great mileage, I have driven it 3534KM till now.

      Ride Quality & Handling I love handling, steering in very responsive and engine performance is great. And performance of gear box is great you don’t need to change gears much often in traffic.

      Final Words Just buy it, trust me you will enjoy your ride.

      Exterior Well, you cant compare this car with cars like Honda city or Fiat Linea. It belongs to a different segment and it is not a bad looking car. I feel that it looks better than the Swift Dzire which looks too much like the Swift especially from the front. It definitely looks better than Dzire and Logan(to me atleast).😊

       

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Better than the exterior. Spacious and unique! More knee room than the Dzire. However the tailend models don't come with the music system which is not a good thing. Great aircon vent design. The instrument cluster is exactly in the middle of the dashboard so everybody in the car can see the speedo. The plastic quality is not great though. It has a massive boot space of about 600 L.

       

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The engine may not be as refined as the one in the Dzire. It is bigger by about 300 cc but will only generate 5 PS more. But bigger engines have one big advantage. Low end torque. The engine is very torquey. So you will be off the blocks very quickly and it is a boon in the city as you wont have to change gears frequently. Early reports suggest that the gearbox is very good too. The fuel economy is expected to be on the higer side.

       

      Ride Quality & Handling Early reports suggest that the ride quality is very good unlike the others in the segment. It is not as good as the Dzire when it comes to handling. But not far behind.

       

      Final Words The review is based on the opinions of experts who got the car before Jan 1 2011 and my personal opinions based on the specifications provided. I feel that it will be a better choice over all its competitors including the Swift Dzire. I will be test driving it as soon as possible. More details about the car will be posted after the test drive. I don't know why people are too worried about the 'Taxi' factor. I don't think it will happen since Logan Diesel is there 😄. I decided to write this review after seeing many reviews that underrated the car.

       

      Areas of improvement Basic facilities like CD player and Power steering should be provided to all variants. Looks can be improved.

      Exterior It is a product of meticulous research by Toyota.A really large car at the price of a small car.It is a decent looking car.There are adequate features in relation to the models and their prices.Model V is sufficiently feature packed.Most of Indians do not need more features. Interior is decent enough  in looks and functionality.Significantly spacious for five persons.Every one inside the car feel comfortable.

       

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The two most important components i.e. The engine and the gear box are simply very good.Power to weight and Torque to weight ratos are the best in class.The car has excellent pick up and very smooth gear change.Instrument panel positioning is innovative and more scientific .Engine performance is much better than Hyundai I20 asta 1.2 L,Swift Dezire,ford fiesta and Tata Manza.

       

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Very good Ride quality and road handling.

       

      Ride Quality & Handling The V model of Etios is simply great. The Air Bags, the ABS with EBD,Alloy Wheel, large 15" tyre, rear Defogger, Tachometer, Fog Lamps, Audio system in this large large car at this price is really great.

       

      Areas of improvement The reserve fifth tyre should also have alloy wheel.

      Exterior Exteriors looks very good.

       

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) I am driving VX model and bought it from Esprit toyota Mathura road ,Delhi.Primarly Iam extending my thanks to Mr.Shaji[ Manager -Office] and Mr.Umair [executive]for helping me to uderstand about Etios. My mechine is from the very first lot dispatched from the toyota factory.Im 6  feet 2 inches tall and a man with my height can be comfortably sit behind me without knee touching to the drivers seat.Space  is enough and drive is very comfortable.Interiors are above average.

       

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox It gives an ultimate comfort and pleasure  in driving for both  city and heighway.my daily driving is 120 to 140 km, this includes both city and heighway. Iam getting 14.5 to 15.5km per litre.[more in city.using only normal petrol]. Average/litre can be improved in careful driving.Manza,Dezire does not deserve any comparison with this mechine.this is a 1496cc engine and one should compare the same with like mechine only. Gear shifting is very smooth and pickup is excellent. Thanks for Toyota for the excellent ride quality and smooth handling.Diesel car is more economical for me but No diesel car  can match  the performance ,comfort and quality of toyota.


      Final Words If the budget is below 10lakh, Etios is the best option.

       

      Areas of improvement Should have electronic OVRM. Hand rest for driver and back seat passenger.

      Exterior Exterior of the car looks much much better than Dzire or Manza.It is designed just the right way it should have been.Tail light styiling looks awesome. Car body doesn't look like a Head of A car and  Boot of B Car  joint type(Dzire/Indigo).

       

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior has lot of chrome for the top variants.I have got a V model so I have upgraded its interiors to VX, by adding the Chrome Bezzel near the cup holders, Red Gear shift knob,red floor mats etc. Dashboard is nothing great to talk about, I personally didn't like it much. The Glove box is huge with coooling facility available. I can fit my laptop in there. A/c is very pleasant and air is very clean due to air filters. Music system is 4 front speaker, 2 din music system and it sounds very good. Back seat space is huge huge huge,3 average and 1 thin guy can sit comfortably .No ugly curve on the back seat floor area like in all other cars,so people can properly keep their foot down and relax. Hyundai i10 like seats are not something I am very fond off though.

       

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox This is the area which I would like to talk more. Engine performance is marvellous.It has excellent Drivabilty on city roads.Pick up is at par with Honda or VW engine,I have driven brand new Ritz,i20 Asta,frankly I felt Suzuki,Hyundai are fooling customers in the name of ENGINE.Gearbox.Drive a toyota and you know what is smoothness in gear shifts or pick ups,in accelerations.I am absolutley bowled over by its 132NM torque at high rpm feature.I can drive the car literally at 4th gear in back to back trafic without a gear change..The car easily glides through from a speed of 20 - 70 KM.hr at 4th gear,which is amazing.

      Fuel ecomony is at the moment 13.5 Km/ltr but I am sure it will improve after 1st servicing as it happens in all cars.I am expecting 15 easily.

       

      Ride Quality & Handling If you want to buy a Toyota buy it for ride quality ,handling,smoothness.I am sure other petrol cars other than Honda,VW,Nissan won't give you that kind of ride quality.

       

      Final Words I am extremely satisfied with my Etios and it is the best Value for money I have driven.This is a verdict by all experience car drivers ,which includes a friend of mine driving since 23 yrs and having a Honda Jazz.That is the reason why it has got accolades at NDTV C&B show,Overdrive and Bloomberg's shows.

       

      Areas of improvement Interiors could have been improved. Doors should have more insulation,Headlights should be stronger.

      Exterior I had already written the review tittled" Toyota Etios The Great" on 1st March after a limited use of a friend's car.Now I got one and also drove 2400 kms within a few days.It is really amazing that we could get such a car at this price.I always considered the car is good looking.Now everyone whom i visited and saw the car was impressed with it's good look.I dont know how the car Magazines and many other people were not telling good about Etios exterior.

       

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) This car has great space inside .Infact it is more spacious than toyota Corolla altis and Honda City.However it is comparatively less luxorious .The V model has a better colour combination inside than other models.Features in V model are also more than adequate.

       

      Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Great Engine,great gearbox and good fuel economy.Etios develops it's peak power and torque at relatively low rpm.Therefore Toyota Etios Engine performance( BHP & Torque) are very good at low rpm.Most part of our car drving takes place at low rpm(1200 to 2000).Such engines with low revs are fuel efficient and also have long life.

       

      Ride Quality & Handling Suspension is designed to give stability at high speed. Low turning circle, good power steering and high driving position providing better visibility makes Toyota Etios very efficient in ride and handling.

       

      Final Words Thanks to Toyota.
