I'd been wanting to buy an affordable SUV(comparable cost to a mid sized city car)for the occassional weekend highway drive. Safari's interiors for its price are not too good.Even though the new engine drew me for a test drive, the rubber beadings on the doors and the general finish made me go against it.
Mahindra Scorpio, I personally know 3 people who've experienced a brake failure on a highway .That wasn't even an option..so there was little choice.
Out came this Sumo Grande. I looked at the feature list and then at the tag. The Sumo tag wants you to not see it, but the features draw you to the showroom. External looks are impressive, barring the front grill. Drive is good too. When you stop and look around on the inside, you feel the car lacking some thing. Namely the dashboard could've been better and the plastics used on the interiors could've done with some better selection too. Wood look alike doesn't go well with the overall interiors. The quality of fixtures there is lacking.
Still comparing all the other features, it is value and I've gone ahead to book the silver color which I still have to see.
I hope that later on in accessories they come out with better looking dash board, the front grill and the interior plastics.
And Tata people in reading please rebrand the vehicle and get it away from the Sumo Tag and the taxi image that it has created. Half the people I spoke to don't even want to consider a test drive just because it is a Sumo and the image attached to it !!
To all the people who still like to drive themselves and find it better to be seated in a tall vehicle, it is a good vehicle for its price.(if you can discount the interior looks for the features that it carry.)
Happy motoring !!
Good Style, responsive engine, good pick up and brakingSumo name tag, tacky looking plastic interiors, dashboard could've been better
