Hi
This is Ganesh (a mech engineer)
This is my first review.
I used Carwale to choose between the suv's and muv's.
Found it very useful and hope to do something in turn.
Now about the safari-
its both good and worst at times.
The good in terms of comfort - a/c, 2nd and 1st row spacing, suspension and the looks
The worst in terms of -3rd row seating (only kids can fit-in), The height- U NEED TO TREK
Love safari for its look and suspension. Hate the designers responsible to make me loose this.
Other point like parking too is a hassle.Reverse camera is useful but need to get used to it.
Got a test-drive. The diesel is not for the city.
If u decided to buy a SAFARI consider the PETROL version too.
Y...?
The answer is
The petrol version when compared with the top end diesel version is 2.5laks less. So u pay 2.5 laks more for diesel. Means U need to drive atleast 60000 Kilometers in diesel to recover the initial cost.
(SAFARI petrol at worst might give 7 KM/litre and and lets say diesel gives 10KM/litre at its best.
so u pay Rs7.5/- per KM for petrol and Rs3.5/- for diesel
and u save Rs4/- per KM in diesel so when u do 60000 km in diesel u wud save 2.4 laks)
Not only this the maintenance of diesel is high.
Vibration in diesel engine is another issue which spoils the luxury. Power and pick-up of a petrol engine is far more superior.
The second sale value of SAFARI petrol is better compared to
the diesel.
ONE MORE BIG FACTOR
who is going to drive all the 60000KM. By 50k or 60k anybody would change the car.
So be clever in the choice.
Hope this helps.
Style,Suspension,off-road,COMFORTTOO high to climb (elderly), too heavy (mileage and power matters), poor last row seating
