I had purchased a Tata Manza from Malik Cars, Hyderabad in December 2010. Since i had purchased a Vista earlier, i felt enough justice would have been done to Manza based on the smaller version. Paying for my mistake for the second time.
Took the deliver on the 3rd day of completing all the payment formalities. I drove the vehicle within the city for 3 days at a lower speed. Exactly after a week, i had decided to go on a long trip to another city along with family. The day when we started and hardly went 40km outside the city in the morning, the turbo charger failed and i had to abruptly halt my trip. I found that when the vehicle touches 100km on the odometer, the engine malfunction light lits up. Visited a TATA centre nearby, but the mechanics were helpless to identify the fault. Literally i had to cancel my trip and drive back to home. Later that day i took the vehicle to Malik Service Centre at Tollichowk. I never received a call till 3 days from the service people. As i was after them, i was told that the fault was untraceable till the end of third day. As i didnt want to upset my tour programme, i had to leave the city by flight along with my family on the second day itself. My family were so upset and they could see the dejected feeling in me and i could not say anything to anyone after thinking about the new vehicle lying in the workshop within a week of buying.
I received a call on the 4th day and i was told by a mechanic that the problem was rectified. The problem being a faulty electronic sensor which was replaced. I took the delivery of the vehicle after a week on my return back to the city. As usual the seats were stained with dirt and oil and atleast happy to see that there were no scratches on the body. Also i found that the vehicle was driven for more then 100km for test on my diesel which was filled up for the trip as mentioned earlier!
When the vehicle was at the service centre, i had called up the top heads of malik. The response was that they would say that they will get back in 5 mins and thats it! I asked the sales agent about how can a vehicle be delivered to the buyer without testing. As usual sorries and blames fly around. I got a habit to drive the car alone on long trips, but now i am thinking twice about doing that on my new vehicle. Ofcourse on slow speeds i dont find any problems but anyway I am still using my evergreen 4 yr old Maruthi Alto and i trust it lot more then any vehicle.
So my advice to readers, please dont fall for the looks of a vehicle while purchasing. Test it properly before buying, especially TATA vehicles, which are supposed to be the country's most UNreliable vehicles. Older indicas have good history while the new counterparts such as Vistas, Manzas and Nanos seem to have lost the clean slate.
Cheaper then others with all features of a topend versionCheap plastics which can come off in your hands
