Exterior The overall exterior of the car is wonderful. I currently own a Xeta/CNG and am planning to buy a ELX Diesel. I would give it a 4.5 on a 5. It look from outside is same as the xeta. little changes like door knobs could have been added. The witdh of the car is smaller and could have been made slightly larger, offering more stability at higher speeds. I have driven this car at 120kms on the highway and it handled the speed well. The front grill is fine. The clear headlights are fine. overall a good look. This is a higher version and alloys could have been provided. also keyless entry would make it a stunner.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors are good. Boot space is fine, leg room is good, though no changes from the original indica types, if you get what i mean. could have done with some changes. otherwise people like me who already own a tata car, feel like they are buying the same thing. since this is the highest version, arm rest at driver and rear could have been provided. also there is no reading light at the rear, or did i miss to see that. Also cup holders, buttons for power windows are not easy to locate. it has a poor music system. could have done with a good blaupaunkt sys. Some features like the dashboard look plactic types. Overall this car is a value for money(VFM). The only thing is that they could have made some minor changes and this car would have been a stunner not only in performance but also on the interiors as well. I will buy this car as soon as i get sale for my xeta cng. Nobody seems interested in buying it from me.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Being a diesel engine, the sound levels are good, the pick up is absolutely fine. I drove this on the highway, so wont know handling in the city at slow speeds, but i can tell you one thing my friend, this little horse packs a punch at top speeds. Feul economy is good. I want to buy this car only because CNG today is almost the same at diesel. CNG is 36 and diesel not very far away, and the trouble at filling this every 150/160 kms is a pain.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride was good. I had taken a test drive with my wife and 4 yr old son and my wife at the back felt the pick up and speed. maybe the diference was that this sort of pickup is not available on a CNG. Handling of the power steering is fine and the gear box responds well at high speeds. though a lesser speed there is a slight stikness, but overall good. at 5.5 odd lacs, this is a great family car and since it diesel take it anywhere.
Final Words I will buy this car immediately if I get sale for my xeta CNG. Indigo elx is a great car with a great engine, pickup, looks and space. Overall a good buy.
Areas of improvement Slightly that i have penned earlier.
Stability, pick up, smooth gear shifts, space, boot space, power steering, Overall VFM.Cheap plastic dashboard, position of steering wheel, top end version does not have alloy wheels.
