plastics interior argonomics handling needs to beimroved   boot s not as appropriate can be used only for carrying vegetables and baby pillows not for long distance journeys one has to use carrier which gives a taxi look.   tat should not make the vehicle available for taxi registration

Exterior Perfect Aerodynamic, high positioned seating and good ground clearance.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very decent interiors from Indian maker - Kudos to TATAs comparing with other Euoropean car makers, better than Maruti. Very spacious at the back - comfort for 3 people with front seat fully moved back. very comforatble for long driving, including hill stations. Comfortable at 100-110kmph speed on highways - not more than that. AC is good, but not so powerful like Honda. No coin trays is disadvantage. Less boot space.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Very low engine noise, powerful at high speed. Gives 13kmph in the city and close to 18 at highways. Gear shifting is quite comfortable, but not smoother like Maruti. No need to change gears quirte often at slow moving trafic. engine has higher torque so that you can be at 20kmph at 4th gear with out any gear box nosies, of course the pickup will be lower at 20kmph while at 4th gear. Well designed from FIAT technology. The main reason for good mileage is the above reason.

 

Ride Quality & Handling Maneouver is lighter, U Turns are better. Due to Hydraulic Power Steering, the toughness in seen unlike in Hondas and Marutis which have EPS. doesnt make much difference while getting used.

 

Final Words Value for Money, Sedan comfort.

 

Areas of improvement Improvement of plastics and fixing; Good quality Music system - I have Blaupunkt system - is good enough but requires improvement in quality of sound output.

Exterior Overall the exterior is so so for this hatch back variant. But tata can always innovate things in this area.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior as far as space and comfort is concern, is almost best in this segment. Features offerred are also looks attractive.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is roaring on the highway while pressing the accelerating paddle. And largely quiet while riding in city. Running 2400 km last month in 6 days, I could achieve 19.5kmpl with A/c and having driven this machine at 120kmph.

 

Ride Quality & Handling Power steering seems a little hard in city drive and needs further attention. Riding  quality could have been better.

 

Final Words Overall this machine has to be given attention for being the best value for money car. This one is one of the best products of tata cars.

 

Areas of improvement Plastic fittings for interior have to be much much better than what they are. After sales service has to be improved.

 

Good fuel efficiency along with the power delivery.Very bad quality of interior fittings. Service does not give confidence for remaining tata customer

 

Exterior Even the slightest touch of anything on the bumper dislodges its locks.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Comfortable, spacious, and quite pleasing interiors.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Though TATA advertises 22.4 KMPL in all newspaper ads but the fact is that the  car (VISTA AURA QUARDAJET) does not give more then 14 - 16 without AC in city driving conditions. Gear box makes a noise and not very smooth. Engine performence is quite good in terms of power and pick up. the car easily touches 140 - 150 on highways. So far I have done 11000 km and third service has been recently done. Though assured of improved fule economy after this but no it has not improved.

 

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality and handling is quite good.

 

Final Words There are better option available in Ford Figo, VW and Nissan Micra Deisal or even Maruti Swift.

 

Areas of improvement Bumper fitting. HORN, fule economy without loosing its pick up.

Selection criteria

I wanted a vehicle which is safe, City plus occasational highway driving, highway stability, economical to run and maintain, has good build quality and at reasonable price. Vista and Maza fitted the bill in all respects. Although could have easily afforded Manza, ultimately selected Vista Quadrajet Aqua as Vista is suitable for Pune and Mumbai's congested roads and parking problems. Maruti vehicles were ruled out as none of the their vehicles including Ritz, A star are as spacious as Vista or Marza. Space to me is to comfortably sit 3 adults at rear seats and legs not touching front seats. The Swift and D sire was ruled out as not good looking according to my perception. Ford figo was also tried but somehow it did not appeal to me from any angle. In test driven vehicles the shock absobers felt too soft. i20, Polo, Fabia etc. were ruled out because of price. Normally most foreign companies are least bothered about fuel economy and issues faced by third world countries.

D Day: Yestyeday took the delivery of vehicle. It took 10 days for complete process at on road price of 5.26 lakhs at Pune. (Free insurance by company). Driven about 70km. My brother who is expert in driving has appreciated the driving quality. I earlier owned Maruti 800 and felt much secured and cofortable in vista now. Pick up very good with absolutely no vibrations.

Negatives experiences: There was no BS4 sticker on the vehicles, however it is confirmed from Road worthyness certificate that it is BS 4 compliant. All Nano cars have this sticker. Probably they must have forgot to put it.

The build quality is solid however it is still 'unnis bees' ( A typical term for products which are slighly imperfect).

Inside: I did not find any issue with with plastic quality.

Engine: The main tilting factor towards this vehicle is its engine.
It is world famous Fiat engine. Fiat has sold over 4 million such engines world wide.
Manza, Ritz, swift, Dsire diesel, SX4 diesel all have this engine.

Exterior Car has great exterior, Nice shape, Lights.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Best in class space and confort. For manual windows very hard to operate.

Gear Box : Worst in case of Reverse gear. Makes noise while reverse gear. Service advisor told me its the problem with all Vista's. They dont try to find the solution.

Fuel Economy : Very poor, with such a increasing rate of Petrol this car is like owing a elephant. 12 to 13 KMPL.

LPG Conversion : Tried to convert it on LPG, Its almost failure, very frequent problems to operate on LPG where as all maruti cars run excellent on LPG.

 

Ride Quality & Handling Comfortable ride due to great space available.

 

Final Words Not worth buying, go for Diesel by spending more money.

 

Areas of improvement Gear box, Fuel economy, And listen to customers. No one takes care of complaing about reverse gear noise, We just get feedback its the problem with all Vista petrol.

Exterior Front Headlights are like crocodile eyes good,No change as usuall as Indica.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior Design is fine but fittings are too bad ,colouring of seats must be dark as so that vehicle looks good inside, Back side seating 60/40 for exess luggage is good plan.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox No Noise smooth drive ,I drived my vehilce around 3500 km  ,it is giving between 16 to 20 km,No vibration of the gear box as it is fitted with Dual core wire technology.

 

Ride Quality & Handling Comfort and easy Handling.

 

Final Words Excellent in Engine Performance and driving seat  is comfort to adjust in Hight also.

 

Areas of improvement No indicator for fuel as in ford figo that is How many Kms does the fuel will come.Plastic materil of the body is too delicate when compare to Hundai and Maruti cars,Plastic rubber fiitings are too bad when compare to other company vechiles .No proper racks behind the seat for holding water botlles.Foot mats are off very low quality.

Exterior It has a very stylish kind of a look specially the headlamps, they look awesome ! bt the rear look is more or less the same as that of the old indica. But overall it is excellent !! :)

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors are the most spacious amongst any car in this segment .. they give you a feeling of sitting in a lavish saloon!!

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox the performance is very good .. i got 16 km/lt in city and 22 on the highways (i do a lot of highway driving) though the pick up of the car is a bit poor .. the gearbox is nice to use.

Ride Quality & Handling  Ride quality is really good , so also handling.

Final Words I am really satisfied with this car. go for it if you like this car and just neglect a few cons such as cabin is noisy etc. there is practically no sound when u turn on your radio or music system. the high stance of the car is really amazing and its easy to get in and out of the car. the Air conditioner takes quite a bit to cool the cabin. but thats fine and it doesnt make a big difference. Its an amazing family car which can easily seat 3 people at the rear seat!! I bet you will not regret buying this car:)

Areas of improvement Only the plastics need an upgrade.

After lots of research through internet, actual dealership visits, Test drive of various makes, finally zeroed on Vista QJD Aura ABS. It is the only car which can satisfy my requirements-

1. It must be a Diesel Hatch- Huge difference in Petrol and Diesel Prices makes sense when you are planning to drive your vehicle around 2000 kms or more in a month. - Toyota Liva out of list.

2. Rear seat should accommodate 3 adults and they should be Comfortable for any length of the drive! Most of the times rear seat passengers are senior citizens. (Swift, Ritz, Figo, Beat out of list)

3. It should have safety features like ABS EBD. Comes only in top variant and the cost difference with other makes is considerable.

4. All four power windows are a must. (With driver override control, kids tend to play with them a lot), Figo out of competition.

5. Should have FE of 20 +.

6. Should have inbuilt features like ICE.

7. Price should be below 6.0 lacks. Not a budget constraint but it has relation with insurance premium which needs to be paid every year. Polo and i20 too much cost for little more refined fit and finish.

8. Decent looks- Ritz out of choice.

9. Should have warranty period of at least 4 years with affordable extended warranty cost.

10. Should have longer maintenance cycles- Lower ownership cost.

11. After Sales Service should have nationwide presence and it should be prompt- was only worried about ASS-this point but got convinced after discussing with friends and sharing their experiences. So the short listing resulted in booking All new Vista Aura ABS Quadrajet Drivetech 4,  I booked for After Glow color and was expecting delivery in 10-15 days time, on 15^th day exactly the surprise came instead of the Car, an email from Tata Motors that they have discontinued the color I had ordered.

I was furious immediately called the dealership I was about to cancel the booking, then calmed myself and asked for alternative and delivery period, fortunately porcelain White was available and I got the delivery in 4 days.

I was happy to get it delivered, but again that happiness doesn’t lasted long, I asked the dealership to deliver the vehicle in the morning around 10, made the confirmation on phone at least 4 times, the sales guy was very confident, I took a day off from office and my better half opt for half day (which was a wrong decision in the end) my daughter skipped her preschool.

We were about to leave home and I got  a call from dealership and they asked me come around 11.00, I asked them what is the reason the answer was They are fitting Mud Flaps and floor mats (which hardly take 10 mins) I agreed and went there around 12.15 instead of 11.00 , but again it was a shocker the vehicle was not there at showroom, the delivery person in charge A lady( Strange!), told me that the vehicle will come within 10 -15 mins, I was very furious, asked her the reason she told me that there was some problem with Engine Hood and they needed to replace the cable, and for that they have taken the vehicle to workshop, it was beyond my control.

Straightly I walked into Showroom Manager's Cabin, asked him the clarification, I was smelling like something fishy is going on, he assured me that there was a genuine problem and promised me that he will personally look into it. In next 15 mins vehicle was there! They started cleaning the vehicle and preparation for Pooja.

One of the guys was cleaning my car with a dirty rough towel as soon as I noticed it I literally shouted on him and asked them to stop cleaning if they don’t know proper method. (I have already purchased chamois leather for her to lean her without any scratches)Finally I checked it by all means, each and every function, found two faults, Fuel tank lid had a Minor problem and the front door also had a very minor problem. The service guy took the photographs of both the problems I Noticed and Promised me to do it Free of cost along with complementary washing and cleaning of the vehicle to my satisfaction whenever I want! I made him call the GM of workshop and confirmed the same.

The next day I got the Number plates fixed dealership people were very polite.

I drove her for 400 kms in 6 days, experience was pretty good par expectation, FE was also good haven’t checked exactly though. Important thing was there was not a single rattling sound inside cabin. Neither any unseal sound from outside the car. AC is extremely good, Beige interiors looks stunning. Everyone else in the family enjoyed the rear seat comfort and they are amazed with it, except me, No one drives in family except me, very rare chances for me to get into rear seat.

Well regarding the overall driving experience, engine is butter smooth doesn’t feel like driving a diesel car, I used to drive Maruti 800 and Esteem for last 5 Mears. It’s the same 1.3L Quadrajet engine by Fiat which installed under the hood of Swift, Ritz, Dzire, Manza, In addition to that New Vista enjoys a all new Drivetech4, 5 speed gearbox by Fiat under the belt, which make the drive really pleasant, ABS and EBD enhances the braking, haven’t done any harsh braking though but normal braking effect is good, I believe it is far superior than earlier version of Vista. Blaupukant ICE with Blue & Me is also very effective though the speakers are not that great, Centrally Mounted instrument cluster feels little odd for few hours of driving once u get used it, it feels normal.Adjustable steering and Height adjustable drivers seat is of some use for city driving, abd finiding comfortable driving position. Two way adjustable lumbar support is good for long drives but its not that great as I was expecting, but its better to have, To summarize it’s a real Value for money car, what else one can expect in Rs 6 lac car. Let’s hope that TATA Improves it’s after sales service.
