Like every Indian the 1st car that you look at in the market is Maruti. Why ? because it's around since people used to say "Do you have a Maruti" ?instead of asking do you have a car. Those days are long gone. Nothing against Maruti I myself owned 3 cars from Maruti earlier.
I was in the market looking for a second hand car and this would be my 6th second hand car since I started driving. I usually drive a car for few years and sell it off and pick up another one. This time while looking I got fed up of the entire process of dealers, scams, car inspections, bargaining etc and decided to go for a new car.
So here I was with a so called strict budget of 8 lakhs on road price. In that budget scope was limited to Maruti , Hyundai and Tata hatchbacks and few so called sedans. Old styling, same designs nothing exciting really. and I thought I had to settle for one of those, and then suddenly I saw advertisements of the all new Renault Kiger, I was in love with the car with the 1st look online itself.
I went to the showroom when the bookings opened to test drive with the intention of booking and that's what I did Let me tell you one thing. You can say whatever you like that's it's a big Kwid or a big hatchback but you need to agree it is bigger and better than a hatchback or a Kwid, Unless we believe that Nexon is not a bigger Indica.
Coming to the styling, its much better than the magnite, because that's the straight comparison right?, with the coupe type sloping back it does try to look like an Evoque. It's a head turner and is really modern in design compared to all in this segment. The day time running DRL and led headlights set up with white lights is surely a eye catcher.
Driving and handling
Driving is very refined compared to other AMT's in this segment.
Drive is smooth and suspensions are not too bumpy and car holds the road and drives well. Steering has good feedback and response in all situations
Braking is excellent too.
Cons
The car takes a bit of load when reversing on a steep slope which can be managed by switching AC off. Normal roads no issue with reverse at all
Rear window needs some getting used to as its on the smaller side.
At this price point you don't need to compromise on anything so no point discussing things that you could have that is available in cars which are priced 1-2 Lakhs higher or even more.
Pros
Very classy and plush interiors reminds you of luxury cars which divides the driver and passenger with the middle console and hand rest (bye bye hands clashing and passenger leg hitting the gear box etc.) Everything is concealed and not having open cup holders or empty pockets to keep things and make a mess. Excellent MID cluster with classy colors and animations not cartoonish like it's competitors.
Driving modes - Eco, sports normal.
Touch screen display with android auto wireless.
Excellent sitting position for driver you can see the entire bonnet
Rear AC vents with charging socket ( now no troubling the front passenger to charge phones etc.
Very spacious front and back and boot
Very upmarket keyless entry with card with no touch lock and unlock features.
4 airbags in this price segment
Very stylish diamond cut alloy wheels with 16 inch tyres
I somehow squeezed in some extra money and went for the RXZ variant it's got too many features that you miss out like :
Power folding ORVM
LED headlights
PPM air filter in AC vents
Driving modes
Piano finish center console
Digital MID with graphics
16 inch alloy wheels
Ambient lighting
Mid controls on steering wheel
RXZ badging on the sides
Cooled glove box
Rear defogger
Automatic climate control
Auto up down driver power window
Better seat covers
3D surround sound 8 speaker set up
That's a lot of features to miss out on.
.
So to conclude I had a vision of a car in my mind since few years and few things I wanted specifically, and Kiger came along and ticked all those boxes and added even more new boxes that got tick marked
Hope you have a good and safe drive whichever car you choose.. Thanks..

Kiger has amazing interior and exterior design. It also is awesome to drive. The feature called 3 drive mode(eco/normal/sports) are superb. Overall its qualitative worthy to our hard earned money.
RXZ AMT non-turbo, Looks & feels amazing. It's a pleasure to drive & very comfortable. Apple Car Play & speakers are great. Salesperson Debraj in showroom (Vibrant Motors Kolkata) was very helpful. I am very satisfied.
Pros -
1. I love it's shape, design and curves.
2. its handling is so smooth with comfortable seats and good space.
3. Head lamps are fully led & brighter.
4. Its height & ground clearance is too good.
5. Nice interiors and features fully loaded.
6.Better build quality
7. Eco, normal & sport mode is ok with good mileage.
8. Maintenance is easy &service cost are less.
Cons-
1. 1 liter 3 cylinder engine which produces 72 bhp petrol. Why they don't make 1.2 liter 4 cylinder engine petrol for smooth & confidence ride.
2.Sun roof has been provided only on the top model
3 Active & safety features are missing like ESP, TPSM, Hill control & cruise control.
4. While reversing the vehicle it doesn't move as expected. It struggles a lot.
Eco mode, normal mode and sports mode are fine. Reverse drive the vehicle doesn't move as expected it struggles a lot. Air conditioner, pick up and digital Instrument Cluster is good. Overall it's good, except mileage.
Nice exterior and nice interior. Personally I like this car very much.
In all compact SUV car this car is best performance. In this car space is also supper.
