Volvo launches next generation XC60 and S60 in India for Rs 40.50 lakh and Rs 29.90 lakh

Volvo India has launched the next generation XC60 SUV and S60 sedan for the Indian market at a function in New Delhi for Rs 40.50 lakh and Rs 29.50 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively. The cars have got mostly cosmetic updates and will go on sale from today at 12 of the Swedish automaker’s outlets located across the country. Both cars were unveiled at the 2013 Geneva motor Show and are currently on sale in the European markets.     

The Volvo XC60 is available in three variants and one engine option. Like its sedan counterpart the XC60 gets a new front fascia which is more rounded and now resembles the V40 Cross Country which was launched earlier this year. It gets a revised grille and slimmer headlights which have now been fitted with LED daytime running lights. The Volvo S60 Sedan too gets a new front fascia like the XC60 more in line with Volvo’s new design philosophy. It too gets a revised grille and slimmer headlights fitted with LED daytime running lights.

New features across both vehicles include City Safe technology, a digital instrument cluster, revised upholstery options, three-spoke steering with paddle shifters and dual chorme exhaust pipes. Colour options for the S60 include  Passion Red, Vibrant Copper, Crystal White Pearl and Power Blue while the XC60 is available in Black Metallic, Electric Silver, Caspian Blue, Twilight Bronze, Flamenco Red Pearl, Crystal White Pearl, Bright Silver Metallic and Rich Java.

The S60 is powered by a five-cylinder 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine that produces 163bhp and 400Nm of torque. The top spec Summum D5 variant gets a 2.4-litre mill that produces 215bhp and 440Nm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox.

The XC60 is also powered by a five-cylinder 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine that produces 163bhp and 400Nm of torque. The top spec Summum D5 variant gets a 2.4-litre mill produces 215bhp and 440Nm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox while the Summum D5 also gets four-wheel drive.
