Volkswagen to revamp its after-sales model

The ability of a car maker to offer after-sales service determines its fate in the Indian car market. Volkswagen, over the years, has certainly taken its learnings seriously. Steffen Knapp, director - passenger cars,  Volkswagen India, has promised a revamp of its after-sales service model to make the brand more affable in the country.

Speaking about the current state of affairs, Steffen said, that the dealers and service centres are working hard to provide the best solutions to car buyers within the confines of the international standards of service that can be applied to the Indian car market as well. Volkswagen India is revisiting the application of a global yardstick to the Indian market, which works in its own unique way.

Having said that, Steffen Knapp has also promised us new age after-sales service support with the introduction of a website in near future. The online portal will host all the relevant information about service schedules, spares and estimated costs as well. 

Also, with Volkswagen looking to increase localisation of components, the cost of spares is expected to come down. Volkswagen has the history of being a little on the heavier side when it comes to cost of ownership, but the carmaker is working towards reigning in those as well, adding a competitive edge to their already good product line-up.
