Skoda reveals official images of Yeti facelift

The Skoda Yeti now joins the Euro spec Rapid and the recently launch Octavia to get the company’s new Vision D design philosophy. The first official images of the car reveals the subtle yet evident changes that makes the Yeti look a bit softer and a lot more premium.

The most evident change to the facia is the omission of the anomalously positioned round fog lamps, which are now replaced by a more conventional rectangular piece mounted onto the front bumper. The new trademark grille, the updated Skoda logo and a new pair of angular headlamps complete the rework done on the facia.

The lines on the new Yeti are much cleaner and give the hood a prominent contour to match the redesigned frontend. The sides are understated like in its predecessor though the alloys have been given a refreshing update. The taillights are now re-profiled and now resemble the C-shaped unit found on the new Octavia.

The interior fabric and shade has also been modified along with a new steering wheel. Updates on the electronic wizardry and the mechanical underpinnings available on the model is likely to be revealed closer to its official unveiling which is scheduled for this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show.

Skoda assembles the current Yeti at their facility in Aurangabad and the same is expected to be case with the facelift. This in theory should give the Yeti an advantage over its more expensive D2 Segment SUV competitors like the Honda CRV and the Toyota Fortuner. But in reality, being in the D1 segment has not helped the Yeti to push its sales in India as it then competes with the Mahindra XUV500. Probably, the introduction of facelift along with a better pricing strategy may turn the tide in Skoda’s direction this time around.
