Range Rover Evoque XL expected to be launched in 2016

Contrary to rumours that 2015 would see the launch of the Range Rover Evoque XL, a 2016 launch is the new date that is making the rounds. Bigger but lighter, the Evoque XL codenamed as L560 is expected to bridge the gap between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport.

The new variant will be placed below the much larger Range Rover Sport. It earns the lighter tag by incorporating more aluminium into its present structure. Also the inclusion of Jaguar’s new line of four-cylinder engines named ‘Hot-fire’ makes it more economical.

Land Rover has been consolidating their plans of using the new aluminium platform in the Evoque XL, same as the one which will be used by the new family of compact Jaguar cars. Reports suggest that all cars based on this platform will be built at the British carmaker’s production plant at Solihull.

According to analysts the new Range Rover Evoque XL should be able to garner sales of up to 80,000 units annually.Internationally the market is abuzz with demands of smaller compact SUVs and crossovers and going by its features, this car may prove to be profitable for Land Rover.
