The production version of the Mclaren P1 will make its debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show that is slated to be held in March. This is the third model of the car to break covers after the concept vehicles; P1 and the P2 were unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
Touted to be a successor to the legendary McLaren F1, the P1 has been designed more on the aerodynamic side and aims to be faster around a corner rather than down the straights. The car is expected to also get a uniquely designed DRS enabled rear-wing which will produce over 600kgs of downforce.
It will be powered by the same 3.8-litre V8 engine that sits in the MP4-12C. It is expected to produces around 700bhp along with a 160bhp additional power from a KERS unit. The P1 will sit in the McLaren hierarchy above the MP4-12C and its open-top sibling and will be the flagship model of the British Automaker.
Reports are now suggesting that McLaren has in its sights the Bugatti Veyron and aims to trump it in terms of top-speed. However, it should be noted that Bugatti themselves are rumoured to be working on a Super Veyron whose W16 engine will produce over 1600bhp.
