The BMW 7 Series facelift with a new aggressive design language was last showcased at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. This time around, a partially camouflaged 7-Series facelift has been spotted in India, during transportation on a flatbed. Along with an imposing design language, the Bavarian flagship model now gets rejigged powertrain and updated interiors. Interestingly, this is the first update for the 7 Series since 2015.
In terms of design, the new BMW 7 Series facelift gets a 50mm raised bonnet and a 40 per cent larger grille as compared to its predecessor. The fascia gets distinctive twin-pod LED headlights, revised front bumper and intakes. The rear gets slim LED taillights and chrome exhaust tips. As for the interior, the new model will get a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with a new digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system with gesture control and premium leather upholstery.
Apart from the flagship V12 in the 760i, the new 7 Series gets a new and powerful V8 in the 750i guise. The 4.4-litre motor produces 523bhp and 750Nm and is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in just 3.9 seconds. The German car manufacturer also offers the regular range of straight-six engines in the lower specs and the plugin hybrids. The engines will come mated to the new eight-speed automatic gearbox.
The new BMW 7 Series is likely to be introduced later this year or early in 2020. Post launch, it will compete against the likes of the Audi A8, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Lexus LS and Jaguar XJ in India.
