Nissan has unveiled the final production model of the all-electric e-NV200 van at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
The front fascia has been redesigned along the lines of the Nissan Leaf. The central charging port and blue tinted headlamps lend a distinct identity to the e-NV200. Inside, the major revisions include a new instrument panel with a digital display, which reads out detailed information about the battery charge, range and regenerative braking.
The standard NV200’s chassis has been re-engineered to accommodate the drivetrain from the Leaf, though the e-NV200 does get a higher capacity battery with a 170km range and a more powerful regenerative braking system. The drivetrain integrates the 107bhp AC synchronous electric motor, inverter and the charger unit. Performance wise, Nissan claims that the e-NV200 is quicker than its petrol-powered counterpart.
The Nissan e-NV200 has been designed both for light commercial use as well as large families. Besides private customers, Nissan will hope to attract taxi fleet operators with this first of its kind concept of a fully electric zero-emission seven-seater van.
Commenting on the e-NV200, Mr Jean-Pierre Diermaz, director, electric vehicles, Nissan said, "We have always planned to offer a higher-seating capacity version of the Nissan e-NV200. Marketplace demand has meant we have moved this introduction forward by several months to satisfy this need.”
