Nissan Sway Concept unveiled at Geneva Motor Show

Nissan Sway, a new concept by the Japanese carmaker has been unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. The Sway concept will be the base for future hatchbacks from the Nissan stable. 

Nissan’s design chief, Shiro Nakamura said, “We are experimenting to see how Nissan might be able to bring fresh ideas to the compact segment.”

The concept uses Nissan’s V-motion grille accompanied by LED headlight and the bumper gets strips of LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL). The sculpted bonnet, sharply raked A-pillar, boomerang tail lights and trapezoidal exhaust pipes give the concept a revolutionary look. The concept measures 4,010mm in length, 1,780mm in width, 1,385mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,570mm. While the dimensions are still hatchback-like, the wheelbase just shy of the 2,600 mark might be an indication that an MPV or a compact SUV might spawn off  this platform.

The cabin design is clean with orderly layout and draws inspiration from the IDx Concept. The exposed lightweight seats show their aluminium structure and get suede-like fabric upholstery with special stitching.

Nissan will launch the next-generation Micra next year and there is no clear answer as to whether its design will be inspired by this concept. We can expect Nissan to bring this concept to India at the 2016 Auto Expo or will they present the new Micra? It will be answered with time, until then watch this space.
