The Nissan GT-R turned 50 years old this year. And like its 370Z sibling, its 50th anniversary is being celebrated with a special edition. The Japanese automaker recently showcased a limited edition GT-R at the 2019 New York Auto Show. And, it's not just a cosmetically enhanced version, but gets changes skin deep. Take a look at its pictures that show the upgrades to this heroic Nismo model.
Nissan has announced three unique colour combinations for this 50th Anniversary Edition, yet the most attractive is this Bayside Blue. This iconic colour hasn't been on a GT-R since the R34 model.
New components include GT3-style carbon-fibre front fenders and new 20-inch RAYS forged alloys. These not only add to the exterior appeal, but also improve aerodynamics and save weight.
Round at the back is a new muffler boasting of titanium finishers with burnished blue tips. And yet, the carmaker has still managed to keep the GT-R's signature exhaust note intact.
Look inside this 50th anniversary GT-R to notice a special grey interior with a unique steering wheel and a shift knob trim. Then, there are special seats with unique stitching and embossing.
There are no changes to the 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 mill, which continues to churn out close to 600bhp and 652Nm of torque. It comes mated to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
