Toyota launched the new Fortuner in its TRD Sportivo form for the Thai market. Prices for the 2WD version of the Fortuner TRD Sportivo ranges from 1679000 and 1699000 baht (Rs 32.01 lakh to Rs 32.39 lakh), and the 4WD costs between 1749000 and 1769000 baht (Rs 33.35 lakh to Rs 33.73 lakh).
Exteriors of the TRD Sportivo version get upgrades that comprise of a light black shade for the front grille, roof and the 20-inch alloy wheels. The TRD logo has been extensively used around the vehicle and is also seen on the stainless steel exhaust pipe. On the inside, Toyota has dressed this version with black and red leather seat covers that also adorn a red seam all along. A specially designed instrument panel with the TRD logo can be seen along with a touch screen system that houses a DVD player, navigation and a T-Connect infotainment system.
Mechanically, no changes have been made to the 2.8-litre diesel motor and it continues to make 177bhp. The same six-speed automatic gearbox will make it to the TRD versions too. However, the sporty Fortuner will come with a stiffer suspension setup and disc brakes all around.
The Indian market will have to wait till 2017 to get the new Fortuner, and the TRD Sportivo versions will also find their way here eventually.
