New BMW X6 unveiled: Now in pictures

German automobile manufacturer BMW has unveiled the new X6 ahead of its debut that is scheduled to take place at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show later this year. The new X6 will be produced at the company’s Spartanburg plant located in South Carolina, USA. The model features new design elements on the outside, while the interior gets feature updates.

Changes to the exterior of the new BMW X6 include LED headlamps (standard), BMW laserlight spotlight with selective beam, 19 inch alloy wheels (optional upgrade up to 22 inches) and L shaped LED tail lights.

The new BMW X6 is available for the first time with an illuminated BMW kidney grille as an option, which adds an exclusive flourish to the exterior design. The illumination can be activated by opening or closing the car, but the driver can switch it on and off manually too. This unique design element can also be activated during a journey, lending further lustre to the already head-turning appearance of the new BMW X6.

Upon launch, the new BMW X6 will be available in xLine and M Sport model variants as an alternative to standard specification. The xLine features specific components in Pearl-effect Chrome such as air intakes, side grilles, side skirts with trim strips, air breather edging, air flaps and exhaust tailpipes. The M Sport model features side window graphic in High-gloss Black, wheel arch trim painted in body colour and M Sport brakes with blue-painted calipers.

Using NFC technology, customers can lock and unlock their car using their smartphone. Accessible via the BMW Connected app, the BMW Digital Key dispenses with the need for a conventional car key. Holding the smartphone up to the door handle opens the car. The engine can then be started as soon as the phone has been placed in the wireless charging or smartphone tray.

The updated BMW X6 comes with a standard offering of Vernasca leather upholstery, whereas the extended BMW Individual Merino leather trim is on the options list. The standard sports seats in the updated BMW X6 are electrically adjustable and heated. A few feature highlights are also available as options including four zone climate control system, ambient air package, panorama glass roof sky lounge and a Bowers& Wilkins Surround sound system.

The new BMW X6  comes with a new set of engines - two petrol units and a pair of diesel variants, namely the X6 M50i, X6 xDrive40i, and the X6 xDrive30d. All models come as standard with an eight-speed Steptronic transmission. BMW is expected to bring the new X6 to India towards the end of 2019 via the CBU route.
