The studio images of the facelifted Mercedes-Benz SL-Class have leaked ahead of its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The multiple photos reveal all the cosmetic changes made to the new 2016 version of the two-seater convertible.
The changes to the front are inspired from the Mercedes AMG-GT sports car with sleeker elongated headlamps and revised front grille. The front bumper is also new with additional air intake between the air dam and the grille. The changes to the rear include refreshed tail lamps and some treatment to the bumper.
The leak does not talk about the changes to the interior or the new engine line up. There will certainly be a few additional features in the updated SL, along with the new trim and colour options. The drivetrain of the basic versions is expected to remain unchanged, however, the AMG spec models may get the nine-speed transmission.
The exact details of the new SL-Class will be available at the time of unveiling next week. The SL has been off the Mercedes-Benz India line up for a while, though the timing may be right to reintroduce the same. If the company is to take such a step, it will be only around the 2016 Auto Expo or later and the car will be imported as a CBU with a hefty price tag.
