German luxury car maker Mercedes has revealed plans to offer more body styles of the C-Class after unveiling the Estate version of the car. This announcement has come from the company's head of research and development, Thomas Weber.
Speaking to a publication, Thomas Weber said that a coupe and convertible model and some additional models can be expected. Without getting into the finer details he said, "There is room [for a four-door coupe] between the CLA and the CLS - we are intensively looking at remaining niches that will provide us with profitability and growth."
There is no confirmation on this matter, but earlier rumours also suggested that Mercedes could introduce a C-Class hatchback to take on the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo. However, there hasn’t been much development on the rumoured model, nor has any test mule been spotted.
The new C-Class may not make it to India this year but it is destined for an early 2015 launch. The additional body styles that this car may spawn, may also be offered here. However, we don’t expect the company to sell the C-Class station wagon here.
