Maruti Ciaz won’t get an AMT gearbox

At a time when the whole nation has taken to a technology like never before, Maruti, after giving the AMT transmission its share of fame, may not use it across its range after all. The upcoming Ciaz maybe one of the cars that won’t get the AMT gearbox as the technology is considered a cheaper alternative to the conventional automatic gearbox.

The resultant cheap image may not go well with buyers opting for a C-segment sedan and it may rather get a six-speed torque converter. Maruti is likely to focus more on providing rear seat comfort as a large number of cars sold would be chauffeur driven. It is also likely to get a European car like interior design and will give out an overall premium feel.

The car has rigid mounting for the suspension components and these modifications have allowed engineers to use softer springs for a better ride. The Ciaz is also the longest in the segment at 4,545mm and this might result in greater space inside.

            

The eagerly awaited Ciaz is expected to be launched during the festive season this year. It will compete against the Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna and the Nissan Sunny. There are no indications on the pricing front, but we expect it to be priced in the range of Rs 8 – 11 lakh.
