Mahindra recently introduced a signature edition of the Thar. This Thar 700 is a special edition of the SUV launched to commemorate Mahindra's 70 years legacy and what Mahindra stands for. Let's see what a grand farewell Mahindra has planned in the form of this version, before bringing in the new-gen avatar next year.

This new limited-edition Mahindra Thar 700 is a part of the final 700 units of the legendary off-road SUV, in its current-generation avatar. 

It's christened as the Mahindra Thar 700 and the carmaker will make only 700 examples of this iconic SUV. So, buyers have a last chance to own something unique and exclusive.

What's so special about it, you may ask? Enthusiasts know how the Thar has shaped the lifestyle vehicle segment and become popular with the off-road tribe. This version adds to the exclusivity.

External appearance-wise, the biggest highlight of this Thar 700 is the special badging above the front fender with the signature of Mahindra Group's Chairman - Anand Mahindra.

As for the body colour options, there's a new Aquamarine colour seen on the Marazzo. In addition to this, the popular Napoli Black shade continues to be on offer like the standard Thar.

Rest of the cosmetic changes, especially for the fascia, include a black finish for the grille, a silver finish for the bumper and a decal on the hood.

The side profile of the SUV shows off the stylised five-spoke alloys. Also, the new decals on the lower section again point at its off-road nature.

Changes inside the cabin are very few, with the same layout and equipment like the standard Thar. Still, new leatherette seat covers with Thar branding give the interior a fresh feel.

Apart from ABS, there are no mechanical changes and this trim continues to get power from the same turbo-diesel and boasts of the low ratio 4x4 transfer case and a rear locking differential.
