It looks like Toyota has introduced its Corolla in a hybrid avatar specifically for the Chinese market. According to a few reports, the car was showcased in an event in China. The Japanese brand is expected to launch it locally by the second half of 2015.
Differentiating this new hybrid version from the regular Corolla range is the blue Toyota logo which is usually featured on the brand’s hybrid range of vehicles including the Prius and the Camry sold here in India.
According to Chinese news sources, the Corolla hybrid will be offered with a 1.5-litre petrol engine that has been paired with an electric motor.
Interestingly, Toyota does not sell a hybrid version of the current Corolla and this includes the US-spec version. The car seen here is based on the ASEAN-spec model, also sold in the Indian market which means it could eventually find its way here if Toyota India ever decides to contemplate it for the local audience.
