Geely Holding Group Co. Ltd is a Chinese multinational automotive manufacturing company, headquartered in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. It is known for owning the Swedish car company, Volvo. The Chinese auto giant is now set to launch an all-new car brand - Lynk & Co on October 20, 2016, in Berlin.
The new brand is dubbed as ‘affordable premium’. It will be a global brand and will make use of Complex Modular Architecture platform (CMA) which was jointly developed by Geely and Volvo. According to reports, the new car brand will compete in the middle market segment. The brand will start selling the cars in China initially but eventually make its way to Europe and the United States. The first car from this brand will roll out only in 2017.
The Lynk & Co. brand is intended to take on the vehicles manufactured by foreign manufacturers working in conjunction with Chinese partners, General Motors and SAIC for example. Lynk & Co. will be launching a sedan and an SUV, both of which will use the CMA platform. Except for this rumour, no details are available about the vehicle or the nature of the venture. Nothing is revealed on their teaser website - lynkco.com. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
