Chevrolet Captiva facelift updated on the India website

General Motors have taken a quieter road to unveil the Chevrolet Captiva facelift in India. The facelift was first introduced in the Korean market earlier this year and also featured at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. The facelift receives minor cosmetic and feature updates and will now get a new variant fitted with manual transmission priced at Rs 23,49,802 (ex-showroom Delhi).

The facia from the 2012 model has been carried forward to the facelift. The rear now gets LED embedded tail lamp cluster along with a redesigned lower bumper and exhaust tip assembly, while the car now rides on a refreshed set of 18-inch alloy wheels.

The interior updates are also kept to a minimum and includes new fabric for the upholstery and a larger multimedia screen. On the feature front the Captiva now comes equipped with keyless start, heated rear seats, rain sensing wipers (front and rear) and an automatic level ride suspension to name a few.

The noteworthy addition to the new Captiva is the new manual gearbox variant. Like its automatic counterpart, the car is equipped with the 2.2-litre oil burner churning out 186.5PS power and 424NM torque. What is different though, apart from the gear box, is that the manual option will be driven by the rear wheels against the 4WD option found on the automatic.

The decision to be hush about the face lift might be influenced by the recent incidents of emission related fraud that has shaken the company from its foundation. GM has their work cut out to reclaim their lost image and for they would need to do lot more than introducing the Captiva facelift.
