Chevrolet has announced an increase in prices of all Chevrolet models ranging from Rs 3,500 to as much as Rs 51,000 across the range of cars. The recent realignment of pricing of the Chevrolet Cruze remains untouched.
The price hike is a result of the increase in cess and the additional luxury tax on vehicles with a price tag of more than Rs 10 lakh. The revised prices will be effective from today. The Chevrolet Spark will attract the lowest hike while the flagship SUV, the Trailblazer, will be dearer by Rs 51,000.
The Chevrolet line-up includes the Spark, Beat and the Sail U-VA hatchbacks. While the Spark and Sail sales figures have been quite low for quite some time, the Beat still manages to sell around 700-800 units a month on an average. The Sail sedan is consistently selling around 300 units a month, nowhere close to the leaders in its segment. Utility vehicles, the Enjoy and the Tavera, rake in 1,000-1,200 units every month.
While the Trailblazer seems to have slowed down after the initial spurt, the Cruze has started selling in decent numbers since the facelift. The numbers have crawled to three digits from two and the realigned pricing will try to sustain the growth and hence stay untouched.
