Audi has confirmed that it will bring a revised Quattro Concept car to the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. It has previously released a vehicle based on the RS5 in 2010 as a possible successor to the legendary Quattro rally and road going car of the 1980s.
The Ingolstadt based auto maker had tasted success in the early 1980’s by participating in the then newly formed Group B rally specification with the original car. Bolstered by the their success off road, they made the Quattro road car which was not the first to get four wheel drive in a sedan but was the one which applied it the most successfully.
The Quattro Concept car will be based on the RS7 sedan but will be powered by a twin turbo 4.0-litre V8 that is expected to produce just over 605PS of power. It will be mated to a 173PS electric motor allowing for a combined output of just over 800PS and 1000Nm of torque. As the name suggests, this car will make use of the German automaker’s quattro four-wheel drive system.
In terms of numbers, the Quattro is expected to do 0-100kmph in 3.4 seconds and then on to a top speed of just under 300kmph. It is believed that the car will be launched in 2016 and will carry a rumoured price tag of 200, 000 Euros (Rs 1.63 Crore).
