Aston Martin unveils track-ready 800bhp Vulcan at 2015 Geneva Motor Show

Aston Martin has taken the wraps off its track-ready 800bhp Vulcan at 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Derived from the uber luxurious One-77 GT car, it is a track spec 800bhp traditionally designed front-engine, rear-wheel-drive  race car but with an evolutionary new design from the boys in Gaydon.

Penned by AML’s head-of-design, Marek Reichman, it is preview of the shape  that the next generation DB9 and V8 Vantage will take. It is low, long and filled with many air-vents  for extreme cooling and aerodynamics. The roof sits low over the two seater cabin but is dominated by a large carbon fibre wing which is then superseded by a massive diffuser making a bold statement as to where this car’s true  intentions lay.

Sitting under the large green and imposing hood is a 7.0-litre V12 engine that sends power to the rear-wheels using an Xtrac six-speed sequential gearbox. The Vulcan has been designed to meet FIA regulations but also gets an LSD system, pushrod suspension, carbon ceramic brakes and variable traction control. The cabin is sea of carbon-fibre, alacantera and titanium switch gear. There is a full digital display behind the steering while the wheel itself is cut off on the top.

Obviously, it’s a limited edition with only 24 cars being made and getting priced at a burnt hole-in-bank account 1.8 million GBP. All 24 owners will get a chance to train under AMV’s Le-Mans driver  Darren Turner.
The Vulcan will make a practice debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this June.
