According to reports Aston Martin is shifting production of its Rapide from its Magna Steyr contract facility, Austria, to its own plant in England. The company will half output of its four-door sports car, Rapide, as its production will fall to 25 units per day, bringing the annual total to around 1250.
That is a little more than half of the 2000 originally planned to be produced per year when the car was introduced in 2008. Since the global financial meltdown a few years ago, the brand’s sales have been cut in half, and the market for luxury cars has remained soft. The move could help to keep any inventory down, and hedge against further downturns in the market.
