Ashok Leyland Stile MPV launched in India launched for Rs 7.49 lakh

Ashok Leyland has launched the Stile MPV in India for Rs 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Modelled on the not-so-popular Nissan Evalia, it makes use of the same engine and underpinnings but features a different design. It was first shown at the 2012 Auto Expo and the production version was unveiled for the Indian market on July 16. 

While the Stile borrows heavily from the Nissan Evalia in terms of design, its new front fascia distinguishes it from its Japanese sibling. The Stile is available in three variants LE, LS and the top spec LX variant. the LS and LX variant are available in seven and eight seater variants.  

Common to all these variants are standard interior features which include, black door handles, interior carpets, foldable second row seats, tilt adjust for the steering, air-conditioning and power steering. The higher spec versions will come fitted with body coloured bumpers, moulded dual tone interiors, optional captain seats for the second row, dual AC vents, six bottle and cup holders as well as front power windows. Alloy wheels are optional extras on the LS and LX variant.       

The Stile is powered by the same 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine from the Evalia but has been tuned to produce 75bhp and 185Nm of torque as compared to the Evalia’s 85bhp and 200Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. 

The Stile is the second product of the Nissan-Ashok Leyland joint venture and  will be produced alongside the Evalia at the Franco-Japanese automaker’s plant near Chennai. It will be available for sale at Ashok Leyland’s 130 outlets across the country. 

With this seven-seater MPV, Ashok Leyland  is  looking to target the fleet market and those looking for low cost, large vehicles  like courier services and hotel chains.
