Ashok Leyland Stile launched in Mumbai for Rs 7.49 lakh

Ashok Leyland has launched the Stile in Mumbai for Rs 7.49 lakh (Ex-showroom Mumbai). It was launched for the Indian market at a function in Delhi yesterday and is based on the Nissan Evalia. It is available in seven variants and with a single engine option. The Stile was first displayed at the 2012 Auto Expo and the production version was unveiled for the Indian market on July 16.

The Stile has the same overall design of the Nissan Evalia but features a completely new front fascia to separate it from its donor car. All variants of the MPV are available in seven and eight seater specifications with the top spec LX 7 seater being offered with optional alloy wheels. 

Common to all these variants are standard interior features which include, black door handles, interior carpets, foldable second row seats, tilt adjust for the steering, air-conditioning and power steering. The higher spec versions will come fitted with body coloured bumpers, moulded dual tone interiors, optional captain seats for the second row, dual AC vents, six bottle and cup holders as well as front power windows. Colour options include sparkling white, silky silver, moon grey, passion red and imperial black.  

The Ashok Leyland Stile is powered by the same 1.5-litre K9K diesel mill that sits in the Evalia. However, in this vehicle it has been detuned to produce 75bhp and 185Nm of torque as compared to the Evalia’s 85bhp and 200Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. Ashok Leyland has also said that a CNG variant of the  Stile will be launched soon, however it is still not clear what engine will power the CNG variant and whether Nissan’s vehicles will also be offered with this option.   

It will be produced at the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s facility outside Chennai where the Evalia is currently manufactured.  Ashok Leyland is believed to be targeting the fleet market and those in need of big yet seemingly comfortable vans such as hotel chains and courier companies.
